What was she barking at?

Early this morning (about 4:30) my chihuahua started barking for no reason. Wondering what the heck she could possibly be barking at, I went over to her to check it out. Upon investigation I saw it! It was a piece of lint! Aha! So that's what the culprit was! lol
I went to grab it so I could throw it away. However, when I did, she acted like it was alive! So, I decided to have a little fun with her instead...
I made her run all over the living room while I was chasing her with it! I'd also let her check it out. I would stop, hold it out, and let her sniff it. But she was cautious and wouldn't get too close. Every time she was just a few inches away from it, I'd make it "come alive" and BOING! she would spring back! lol
I eventually got tired of running around. The fun didn't end there though! lol I set the piece of lint on the couch and watched as she would try to "attack" it!
It was hilarious! I couldn't help but get some video of it! I wish I could share it with all of you here, but I'm having trouble importing it from my smartphone to my computer. I also tried emailing the video to myself, but the file is too big (just over a minute long). However, I did get a picture of her "in action" which I made sure to include on here. It's not the greatest, but you get the idea. lol
And they say some dogs bark at nothing. Turns out there was a reason, after all! lol

You could upload it to YouTube and post a link.
I have 3 chi's. 1 barks at every noise, anyone who isn't me or tthe cats, anything he doesn't like, you get the picture, lol.
The 2nd barks at the pup; who I swear torments him just so he will bark, and a knock on the door. That's about it.
The third, sweet baby, doesn't bark. I mean, she will, but in the three months I've had hr I think she's barked maybe once at some dog walking down the street outside.
Pets are so full of personality!

I agree. I have posted quite a number of videos at my channel that I hope are both informative, and entertaining. Many of which started out as simply sharing things I saw as cute or funny. A link to my channel if you'd like to view them is:
This is one of my older videos that shows what you can teach a kitten to do. Of course cats have their own agenda, so they learn what and how they want, and are not like a dog.
My cute, adorable, 11 week old kitten has learned to fetch. Watch us play. It's funny, and very cute. He's smart as a whip.

If I had a penny for every time Sandy barked and we could not figure out what she was on about we would be rich! Of course the squirrels and birds give her a headache. She spends quite a bit of time chasing them. She barks at all of the cars that come down our dirt road. She really does not like the 20 something year old neighbor and barks at him every time he sticks his head out the door. I wish we could see the video. Sounds like you had a good time with your pup.

Animal personalities are just as varied as a human's. I've often heard people say you can't train a cat. It just isn't true. But cats do lose interest faster than a dog does, and I think after a while, they just say, "Why bother, you're just going to have me do the same thing again." Howler, My oldest used to play fetch. When he was just a few weeks old. He doesn't do it anymore. Just doesn't seem interested. Maybe he's mad at me 'cause I had him fixed. Just kidding.

I can well relate to this, Preiti does that too. She has a particular bark when she sees a moving object and invariably it is some string or something moving with the wind!

There is always a reason for a dog to bark. I have had a westie who was not very smart, but he was a champ to invent new games like your chihuahua with the piece of lint. During the summer, he was barking and running after... the shadows of butterflies on the ground.

Our Chihuaha barks every time a large vehicle passes. I think he picked up the habit from our lab pup. She barks and gets excited at hearing the big trucks pass because she thinks it's the school bus bringing her kids home.

@cupkitties I don't blame him for barking. Those vehicles can be rather annoying.
@zzzgeok I agree.

This made me giggle. They are always barking at something, theres always a reason....it just doesn't always make sense to us he he. My pooch rarely barks in the night, but when she does she really goes for it. I still haven't figured out what she's barking at though - maybe the wind?

Animals are curious, as are humans, but don't necessarily have the intellect to determine how to explore things that may confuse them, frighten them, or just interest them. I have cats. Everyone knows how curious cats are. Especially when they first encounter something new. My youngest, who is still a kitten at six months had a blast exploring a battery powered toothbrush. Here is a video if you wish to see it of my Chloe investigating it.
Mind you, I have a number of videos on my channel, many of which show how my cats act when they are exploring the world around them. I'd appreciate your viewing my videos, and hope you enjoy them. Of course there are a number of other subjects covered as well.
