Finally have my clock set up

It's rather funny the things you miss. I like to have certain things around me to feel I am at home and feel cozy, comfortable. We recently had to clear out the place and bag up everything so exterminators could come in and do their thing. I was so surprised at all the stuff my daughter, GS, and I had accumulated over the past 15-20 years. Stored stuff we had forgotten we even had. It was like moving cause we got rid of a lot of stuff and rearranged things too. So, now today I finally hit on the little red clock I have had for many years set up in my window and I could see it from work or on the bed. I had to look on here or the phone or the cable to see what time it was. I like to just glance up and see it. Do you like having things in a certain place? Have certain things around you that make you feel at home?

I miss some of my favourite things at the moment. My husband and I moved two months ago, and we didn't finish renovating our new house yet so most of our things are still in boxes. Right now I am sitting in our living room. There are a table, two chairs, our laptops and some books, and that is all. I really look forward to unpacking. It will be nice to find my favourite things like my paintings and photos.

I have yet to decide what to keep and what to throw. Decision taking is the worst option we all have. We had many clocks all over the place. You are right I too miss that one clock that showed me the time when I got up in the morning. That clock is out of commission. Have no plans to replace it though. We are not buying new things. It is time to give away. .

You sound like my daughter. She is a Libra and it is very hard for her to make any decisions.

@celticeagle I am good at decisions making elsewhere but this is the only spot where sentiments come in the way.

Your cleaning up mission was a success in the sense that you could find your favourite clock in the old stuff and now you could now conveniently place it anywhere to use. A wall clock or table clock or even a wrist watch has its own importance. Mobile (phone) clocks are inconvenient in the sense that we need to open and check our mobile to know the exact time, while we can quickly know the time looking at wall or table clock I like to keep my stuff at the particular place and I don't make changes. For example my car or bike keys are always kept at the same spot so that I could pick it up blindly.

@celticeagle - I stand corrected about your new clock. It is good to hear that you have defined places for keeping keys etc.

Ah, no. My clock wasn't in my "old stuff". It was in new stuff packed up and out of the way for the exterminator. And, I have a certain place where I like it. I try to get my daughter and GS to put things(Keys) in the same place each time but they don't and continually lose them.

@dpk262006 I think it is a good idea cause other wises I would be wondering where they were all of the time. Part of being organized I guess.

We often forget things that we had once they are stored away as things you hardly use. I use my laptop for a clock or my cable box that's across the room. I don't have any place to put a big clock in my room although I do have a clock on my computer desk also for my alarm. I need to do some cleaning also as I have accumulated things and half of it i don't use so can be thrown out. I think that will be my winter project though.

That is so true. No, this is a small digital alarm clock that used to belong to my GD. The alarm doesn't work anymore but the main clock is fine. I have it in my window and can see it from anywhere in my room. Works great!

I do yes. And if they are not in their place then it does bother me. It just helps me stay organized. Everyone actually. God bless

I'm very organised and I've got far too much stuff so things often aren't where I want them to be.

I'm usually pretty organized but depression and such makes that difficult at times. Stuff is stuff but I like it where I like it too.

@Gina145 I'm not as organized as I used to be. I think it could become a part of OCD if I over did it. LOL

@celticeagle Oops, just noticed the typo in my original comment. I meant to say I'm NOT very organised. Just one of many things I need to work on.

That's actually really cool. I did have one thing like that, but when my sister was visiting my parents a couple of years ago she threw it away. It was a pink heart shaped box with a purple bow on the lid. Inside, were momentos, one being a letter my now deceased mother wrote me when I was seven and she was out of town. I really wish I had that box. I didn't even know it was at my parent's house until she told me she threw it away.

So nice of her to tell you and help to make you feel worse and knowing that was where it was and it was gone now. LOL

I seem to have lost a couple of comforting items when we moved last time. Either that, or they are still packed away in som closet.

I think I would feel out of sorts if everything had to be moved around for awhile. I like to have everything exactly where I put it so I know where it is.

Same here. We did feel out of sorts for about a month. Then over whelmed at getting it all put back where it was. I like to have things where I know where they are and not in a garbage bag in the kitchen. Sure glad that over.

I think it is important to do a purge every so often and to find some things you forgot you had.

I agree with you. I also have heard that if you haven't used it in 6 months you should get rid of it. This is mostly clothing though I guess.
