I hate moving.

I said it and I mean it. I really hate moving, whether it's around the corner or across the country. I have done it many times in my life and never thought twice about doing it. I moved from Columbia, Missouri to McPherson, Kansas in September of 1997. I came here to get married at that time, and did. It has been quite an adventure ever since. I would not change anything about this life I have now.
Now it is time for +GardenGerty and finlander60 to embark on a new chapter in our lives at a new address. We will be moving to Florence, Kansas which is about 40 miles East of McPherson. Florence is a small town of about 500 residents that just made us feel like we belong there.

I've lived in the same house for most of my life, so I don't have any real experience of moving. Now we're looking to downsize though and I'm going to have to sort through a lifetime's accumulation of stuff, so I'm really dreading it. Good luck with your move.

It sounds as if you even have more to look through than I do. It will not be easy.

@GardenGerty I'm sure we will, and I'm really terrified at the prospect because I get very sentimental about things.

While you are young it is a good time to not be tied down by property.

I expect that it will. We have already been invited to a church in Florence.

@AmbiePam GardenGerty has noticed that crime seems to be getting out of hand in the nearby towns. I believe that we will enjoy the, hopefully, slower pace of Florence.

Moving is a heck of a lot of work. But it sounds like you guys will be very happy where you're going. Maybe you won't ever have to move again! I know I have moving in my future at some point, but I don't like to think of the work part of it, heh heh.

@CinnamonGrl I see you talk some on FB about moving closer to your kids. We hope ours that is far away comes back this way sometime.

@GardenGerty Holly lives just up the hill from me now, they moved there just a couple weeks ago, so that's good. My son is in Santa Fe, thankfully he and his lady will be here visiting for Christmas though

I think we will be happier there. There are some opportunities to be involved in the community and it just feels right.

Moving is a pain but it sounds as if this will be the last time you have to worry about moving. The town sounds very nice.

I've been reading about it from @GardenGerty at the other place - I know it's been a lot of work and there's still a lot of work ahead. But it'll all be worth it - I love the feeling of a fresh new start. Best of luck with it all! (SmilePie)

The house we are in needs a lot of work, and it has two levels, plus a basement. We will move into a house that has one level, a garage for @finlander60 and the kitchen will be better.

I'm glad that it has worked out for you. We are in the "house selling" stage and things sadly, are not looking good. There are simply so many houses for sale and rarely do you ever see a sold sign. I have a feeling that we shall be here a while. :( But when we do move... that will be it. Never again if I have anything to say about it. ;)

We started this because our next door neighbor wanted to purchase our property so he could move his heavy equipment to a spot near his home. Knowing this place was sold whenever we wanted, we got serious about looking.

Our old house here needs so much work that it is really a better way to spend our money to move. We will own more property as well.
