Applying For My First Job?

Here in Michigan, the legal working age is considerably young. Of course, hardly any places will hire you unless you are at least sixteen years old. Yes, the wait for this age has been long... and it is finally here. I always said that I would be out looking for a job as soon as I could, but applying for your first job is scarier than I thought it would be!
My older sister is a waitress at a nearby restaurant and has encouraged me several times to apply for the job as hostess. They would more than likely hire me with my sister's employee referral, and she assures me that I would only be working on Fridays and Saturdays. With school starting soon, this sounds perfect, but I'm still scared it will interfere with my school work! I'm taking very challenging classes this year, including two advanced science classes. Even my dad thinks the sooner I get a job, the better...
Does anyone have any advice for me when applying for my first job? What kind of questions will be on the application, and can anyone help me out with tips for juggling school work and regular work?

LIke what they always say, be witty but be yourself. Don't spill out too many personal information wait for them to ask. Be respectful and come in respectable attire.
Be honest and be yourself, relax you will get the job. congratulations.

Yes, I will definitely have to remember not to start rambling on about myself. Just worried about getting too nervous. Thank you for the advice!

yep, entry level job interview are usually just to get a good impression of who you are. with your sister already working there and giving you a good word there shouldn't be a reason to be afraid of anything, its general "who you are" questions
I think its great to get work experience as soon as you can, it helps later on. if it gets too much with school you can always ask for time off when you need it.

@Boonie1 Thank you for the advice, I really didn't expect so many people to comment with their helpful tips :) It's very comforting to hear advice for my first job from people who have already been there and done that.. Thanks again!

Thank you! Yes, I have to keep in mind that I'm not the only one out there looking for their first job... And I would never dream about lying during a job interview, especially not at a place that my older sister works at already, lol!
