I hear because of the flu shot fiasco last year some people will not be wanting a flu shot this year. I for one will be going and receiving my flu shot like I do every year even though last year I came down with the flu and ended up in the hospital. I just feel that I need the flu shot so I will take a chance that this year it will work.

Hubby and son can't take it.... it makes 'em sicker than a dog! My daughter is ok with it, plus she needs one cause of the job she does. She's a CNA (healthcare field) Me? .... I've not had one in years! I break out the honey/cinnimon in late fall anyways, yes, I swear by that stuff!

It is very important to do other things to help your immunity as well. Like the honey and cinnamon and vitamins and fresh air and sunshine.

Your daughter is required to have a flu shot working in the healthcare field which helps when working with patients. Glad to hear you have something that helps you.

I am surprised it's out already. Doesn't it usually become available in September. I get one every year and feel it protects me and prevents me from getting the flu. I will look into getting mine now. Thanks for the notice.

Turned out they guessed wrong last year and one of the flues that became a major problem wasn't one of the ones the shot covered.

They sure didn't do a good job last year with the flu shot so hopefully this year they will cover more and do a much better job.

@Marcyaz I was actually in a study where the flu shot I got might've been 4 flu strands instead of the normal 3. Now, I don't go out much and while I caught a cold, none of us got the flu. Now the person who does go out a lot is no longer here, we will still get the shots, but we don't have to worry about her bringing home colds again.

I hope it will work for your Marcy. I have never had a flu shot ever. I am very averse to them for some reason and I have only had the flu once many years ago.

I get them every year as I have weak lungs and it is not easy for me to recover from the flu. Ocean and Rosekitty you are both lucky, me i do believe they help me most of the time.

My 6 year old son was diagnosed with asthma early this year so everyone in the family will need to get a flu shot because his asthma attacks are brought on by colds and such.

@howard96h Yep they do have the flu shots at the big chain pharmacies already but my doctor says she won't receive hers for a few weeks yet. Dang I was ready to go but if i go anywhere other then from my doctor I would have to pay for the shot so I will wait.

Tara, to be safe for your sons sake everyone will need the flu shot as it is hard to breath as you know if he gets a cold or such.

I have never had a flu shot before and I never ever intend to have one. My nan and pop used to get them but every time they did, they got extremely sick. In fact I have heard about this happening to other people as well. Seems awful. I would rather just get the flu and deal with it.

I have never gotten the flu from the flu shot and from what I have heard you can't get the flu from a flu shot.

@VivaLaDani13 all I can think of is they were already on the verge of being sick and then thought because of the shot, the shot was the culpret. I have never had a problem with the shot and it is not supposed to me you feel sick.

@Marcyaz Is it meant to even make you feel sick? For some reason the people here who I've known to have it still get sick. I don't really know why though.

I will get mine sometime in September or October. I have gotten the flu once, when I did not get the shot, and it was milder than usual for me. I believe that the more often you get them the better your immunity to all the strains. I had the flu four times in my memory before we could get the flu shot and I do not ever want to feel that way again. I get the shot.

I have also had the flu many times in the past and I do not care to get it again so I will do whatever i feel will help me.

It is better to not have a flu shot too early to be sure that the shot will be efficient for the common flu of the year. I will wait until the end of September before having mine.

I am afraid to wait to long to get my shot as in the past they have run out and then you have to go looking for a place that has some of the flu shots left.

I don't get them. My husband does because he works in a hospital and it's the shot or he has to walk around with a mask on all the time. There is some question about if it really is good to get them all the time. That they don't work as well if you have had them too many times in the past. I don't know, but it is a theory.

I never really got the real flu, just a cold. So I never got the flu shot. But this year I am pregnant and they are recommending it for pregant women. I am still hesitant to get it and will wait what my doctors say about it.

That is best to follow what your doctor says about the flu shot since you are pregnant as you certainly don't want to take any chances with your health.
