Have you found the purpose of life

I know this is one long search. I have been on the trail for years and just as I thought I had found it other things appeared on the scene.
Writing is a passion its not the purpose of my life.. I know its only a means to the end.. I also feel I am there and yet not there. Its like waiting for something to dawn bright on me.
For years I have been working with teens and believed its my life's purpose. Yesterday something happened to confirm that.. Maybe I am at the brink of a discovery about my life..
Have you ever felt that way? Have you sought to know the purpose of your life?

Setting goals, aspirations or whatever is fine but it is not in our hands. So many external factors come in the way. Being flexible is the way to go.

I don't think I know my purpose. Maybe I don't have a purpose. I wonder, could I just be a placeholder? Maybe I am saving a place for someone who has a grand purpose and my purpose is just to hold their chair, or sweep up the crumbs.

@Rollo1 I know that each one has a purpose for their lives whether you believe it or not. To discern the purpose of your life is to have found direction and meaning to it. I have been on this search for years and I know that each phase of your life adds up as a preparation for the final goal. Maybe holding out the chair or sweeping up the crumbs can get you there.

It is good to hear that you are going to achieve, which many miss i.e. you are on the brink of discovering life. Please do tell us about your discovery and how did you reach here.
I am still struggling to find the purpose of life. The more I try to research on life, the more I get entangled in its mystery. Hope I will be able to find one fine day that what is purpose of my life.

@sofssu - The words used in the discussion are - "Yesterday something happened to confirm that.. Maybe I am at the brink of a discovery about my life."
It appeared to me that something serious happened which was a kind of confirmation that you were at the brink of discovery about your life. If you are able to find out something about life, please share with us, it may help us.

@dpk262006 The word used there was "'Maybe;" I don't know for sure.. Anyways revealing the purpose of my life to you doesn't help you or anyone else.. this journey is a process which is individual and deep seeking . Hopefully you will find the purpose of your life someday.

Hmmm Good question. No, I haven't found my purpose in life. I could wonder and even speculate. But I think only God knows the true purpose of our lives.. (Just my opinion)

@sofssu Yes, that is a fact. Maybe I have found my purpose in life, but it is shown brightly. I really don't know.

@TexanTornado This seeking journey isn't the easiest of all. I have been seeking and searching for years and just as I think I have found mine; my circumstances change and I am uprooted from the place.. I guess I have to keep on seeking and being what he wants me to be.

@TexanTornado Of course God knows and the scripture says he reveals his secrets to mankind.. If he has a purpose for you , he has to let you know otherwise what good is it?.. If you seek him .. he will reveal it to you.. this is m y understanding.. what sayest thou?

Many a times in life we think that we have found it.But it is a mere reflection of our conscience based on our desire, knowledge through culture surrounding us and experience.Mostly we find it wrong sooner or later, there it can't be the purpose of life.Actually we need deep self realisation to get the purpose of your life and strong will to back it.

My purpiose in life iis to always be happy, and when I see someone in need, I will help them. I gain a spirtual blessing when I help others, as well as they gain a blessing from being helped. I hope to continue this until I can't anymore.

@sacmomIts good to go searching for it.. even if you missed it by a mile. At least you know you want to fulfill the purpose of your life. That's how I feel about the misses.

and then , i work for an exported company always want to get orders, but not working, still dealing with it.
so about the purpose, i think is which you didn't get it ,you just want and get it .
maybe you just want take a travel and get a relief

Every person makes up his own purpose, for some it's raising their kids, becoming rich and famous, finding someone to spend your life with...or to be the best you can be.
I don't think I actually found my purpose. There is still a hole, but I'm positive I will find it. look at Bruce Jenner, after everything he achieved in life he found a new purpose at 65

Yeah so am I...maybe we have a different view on this, but I think people came to the conclusion that the purpose of life is what you give to it. If you live without a purpose,, then your entire existence simply has no purpose. The only thing that truly matters is that what you believe matters. There is a popular book called the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, it can explain my point better then I can
but that's just what I think, maybe there is another reason were here
