Oh Go Away Danny! Blow Off!

Two years of drought and look what has happened? A tropical storm called Danny is out there (points to the left of Jamaica) gathering strength and may become a hurricane. Not a threat to us as yet. . . but. .. . always the potential of heading our way.
I just want it to blow itself off and disintegrate as we just can't deal with a hurricane or even a strong tropical storm. We are so small that even if it misses us by several hundred miles we still feel the effects.
Now my mind has leapt into hurricane mode. First, fill up car with gas and get cash from ATM. Without electricity nothing works. Then have medications, water and dry food to last five days. Get batteries for supplementary lighting etc.
Oh Danny - take a hike! Please don't visit!

I agree with Dawn. I hope you get the rain, but nothing else! Good luck Cynthi, keep us posted.

A small tropical storm would be okay - destruction not wanted! Just the thought of it all happening again.

@katsmeow1213 Thanks Kat - some parts of the Island had a little rain yesterday . Haven't checked the weather reports yet but this morning is a little overcast so maybe we will get some later.

I experienced a mini tornado around here which never ever happens here. I had a lot of tidying up to do.

@cynthiann All what I thought was devastation turned to be in our favour. I shall write about it in a post.

Yes - Texas is so large so the rain would not do damage.! Great idea! I will see what I can do.

We would love to take Danny away from you - without the hurricane part of course. Better to be prepared as you are already doing - but I hope the weather decides to stay tame. Be safe!! Off topic, but I talked to my neighbor across the street about the ackee and salted fish!

Nothing much to report yet- just a little dark in the sky. I am glad that you spoke to your neighbor re ackee and salt fish. I hope that she cooks it occasionally. Ackee can be bought in tins I believe.

@cynthiann Better a little dark than a lot of storm! My neighbor looked at me funny when I mentioned ackee - he wondered if I had ever seen it (maybe it's not available around here?). He might be the one cooking (he stays at home while his wife is out being a nurse).

This climate change is really messing up weather conditions inertia. We are slated to become hotter and hotter with sea levels gradually rising. Every country should be planning now on how to put controls into place to delay climate change

@inertia4 really? I thought that every country world wide believed in it. All will feel the effects as some countries will get hotter and others will experience more storms etc. It is already happening. A few years ago chunk of ice off the north pole broke out and floated away. This was tracked by scientists as they knew that flooding would occur somewhere. They predicte dperhaps flooding around Australia but it ended up in New Zealand. New Zealand did not know what hot them as they had never received this kind of flooding before. If the sea rises then land will be lost. This is happening to a small extent on our Island but mega in other parts of the world.

@cynthiann I agree but the powers that be will not seem to bother. They actually don't believe in global warming. As I always said, man will destroy himself.

It is a case of feeling oh 'here we go again'. Deja vu. It is stressful although I am organised - I pray that damage will be minimal.

I hope he does not decide to come your way friend.
You must constantly be prepared where you are living for sure cynthiann.
I remember when I lived right at the seaside, it was very much the same.
Always trying to make a plan.
Where we were tho, there would have been not much help if the wave come in.
Gd protect you friend.

Thank you - it is days away yet but we are tracking it. I am okay as I live in the hills but it is those who live on the flat lands near the sea would be worst hit. But I am making a shopping list - disposable plates etc as we will lose water.

Grew up in Miami, Florida and to tell the truth … kind of miss hurricane season. Hurricanes are a childhood memory and we survived them all. Thank God!

I think that all children (including my four) relish the excitement but do not realise what heartache the damage can inflict.
