A guy from the power company knocked on the door and installed a new meter for our electric usage.
These meters are somewhat controversial around here. The guy said he has had 3 people refuse them this morning.
You can refuse them but you have to pay extra to not have them.
Some people feel it is just another way to spy on what you are doing.
The power company,Consumers, claim it will help you save money by knowing what hours of the day it is cheaper to use electricity.
One thing I do know is these meters had to be a big loss of jobs.No more meter readers.

Well, they can spy on you. They know how much you are using and exactly when you use it. And they can send brown-outs to you if they feel you use too much. We got them last year, no refusal for me as it is the landlord's house. Already there is a "contest" on certain days to try to use less electricity. But I don't use electricity unless I need it, so I can't use less.
