I'd like to introduce Fuzzbutt and The Squeakers. I think you can tell which one is Fuzzy.
Today we put the large enclosure down on the floor and let the two guinea pigs play for a while. They don't live in the same cage, because they weren't brought up together and they are only willing to play "nice" for so long. They are both males, and eventually that male aggression starts up. When the teeth chattering starts, we remove them and put them back into their private cages.
But you have to admit this is cuteness beyond belief.

Your guinea pigs are cute. It is a great idea to let them play for a while. We let our rabbits do the same thing. but we have to keep an eye on them because after a while they start fighting. We only have one guinea pig left. We got her from a shelter and she is 5 years old.

Your little piggies are really cute. My boys had a pair for a few years before we gave them away. They loved their piggies, especially the baby piggies. They went fourth and multiplied like piggies. It got out of hand after a while and we had to give them away.

Wow! Very cute! I remember when I was younger we had two hamsters (different than guinea pigs, but very much the same) and made the mistake of letting them sleep in the same cage. At first, they were getting along very well, but after a few hours of being together, they started to fight! It was a very terrible thing to wake up in the middle to find them both injured, but by then the fighting had calmed and they were both okay. We never made that mistake again...

I guess it can happen if one or the other feels territorial. That's why we have them play in a space that doesn't belong to either one of them, and definitely no feeding them while they play or they will fight over food. Glad your hamsters didn't kill one another, but I think they do try to establish dominance and once that is established, they stop fighting.
