I heard a rumor about myLot...

I read someplace that the first day or two at myLot you get lots of comments and good discussions, then after that things slow down considerably. I have no clue if that is true or not. I think I've been busy and I have lots of notifications. Maybe someone who doesn't get much action here said that! Any thoughts on that topic?

That would mean that the whole concept of myLot was a huge conspiracy and we were all in on it together. Like we'd all hurry up and answer the newbies' discussions at first, and then totally ignore them.

Makes me smile just to imagine that. Yes, let's all fool the newbies.

Hehe that would be tragic LOL But i sure hope that all these theories are wrong because that would imply that the whole thing is at risk of failing! :(

Today is my sixth day here, and it's been my best day in terms of interaction with my own discussions. I doubt that rumour is correct. I think that people will interact on the topics that interest them.

@Gina, i agree because in all the 2 weeks I've been here, i've definitely not seen a lull in the discussions at all.

I think that @PhredWreck has probably put his finger on it. MyLot is all about 'interaction' - in other words, 'making conversation'. If someone comes here thinking it's just a 'paid-to-post' site, where they can just post a lot of 'discussion topics' and leave it at that, then they are very likely to be disappointed. Just like a conversation, if you start one and don't keep it going by taking part in it, then it's very likely to die and people will soon realise that and lose interest in you. Just like a party, the only way to have fun is to join in! Sadly, there will always be some who don't realise this and there are probably other places with a different payment structure which would suit them better.

I think some day's are just more active then others, people have things to do, not always able to come online and chat, but they always come at some point

People that don't interact with others can't expect people to interact with them. I think that they give up to easily, because they don't see results, without realizing that they aren't commenting back to the responses they receive from their discussions. people can't just post discussions anymore, and that is it, becasue they won't get paid unless there is interaction with others. I love the interaction as it takes some discussions in different directions, but then they get longer and longer, and that is a good thing too. I am having so much fun, that I want to interact as much as possible.

@rosekiss I like back and forth banter - that's not always easy on other sites! I think it's fun here so far!

@AbbyGreenhill if you make connections, and support others, they support you, simple as that. I have a new follower from the old myLot, she has not posted in two years. I followed her, but the things she posted two years ago are not relevant to my life, not then and not now. I am waiting to see what she does. I respond to her when she comments on my discussions and on others. It still boils down to "you have to put yourself out there, or there is nothing to respond to."

Not really. Some of us are a bit busy till September ending or may be mid October. So we may not come as often as we would like to. But now and then, we will hop in. Now, if they could make the layout less complicated, it would be more of fun. :) And I would love to see those tasks up there. :)

That's true, SimplyD! I've noticed that my money keeps adding up even when i'm not online. maybe because people come on at different times, different time zones and all that?

I agree that it could have been true. I've been saying it for years: how well you do on myLot is entirely up to you. Things may have changed a bit but it all boils down to the same basic principle: you write, you earn. Yes, I know that it's now based on interactions rather than activity. Think about it, though. If you start a discussion and leave everyone who comments on it hanging because you don't come back to reply to them, it can be frustrating. We like to converse here! Another thing that I personally avoided back when myLot was paying before was users who posted things that didn't really contribute to discussions. One-word responses usually don't give a lot to respond to. I've also avoided a few when the poster's English was shaky enough that I couldn't make heads or tails of them. (I'm such a hypocrite--I tend to be terrible about responding to discussions I start in a timely manner. I try, and I get carried away with participating in my friends' discussions. My solution on the old site was just to not start many discussions, since that meant I wouldn't be ignoring anyone who replied to them. ) Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say with all this rambling is that if you make friends here and participate in both their discussions and your own, you'll do fine here.

I think that it is true. It has happened to me as well. The first two days I got more interaction than in the rest of the time.

It depends on your own interactions, whether you have been taking part in other peoples discussions esp those who responded to your discussions when you were a new member...Any discussion site has to have mutual interaction !

The newbies to draw attention by saying they(we) are new I guess that's quite normal to get a bump early on. Now we just have to keep the discussions interesting.

@kiran8 That goes without saying and supposedly that's what the person did who complained.

For me, the first couple of days were pretty sluggish, though now, I seem to be adding a few more cents than what I did earlier, but only a few.Let's hope it works out for me.

Well it depends on how active you are - and how interesting I suppose for newer members. It also depends on your number of friends - this should increase your interactions especially if they are active on the lot.

I don't know what the case is right now because I returned to Mylot after being gone for a long time, but in the past, I felt that you generally just got a lot of comments if you chose an interesting topic. Perhaps this person also just got less notifications later on because he/she was less active themselves. I was really active in the beginning but this got less as I was a member for a longer time.

You are probably right, if you don't interact you don't get any action.

Maybe a person who start a discussion too much in an hour can make other bored to respond It is my opinion

I can honestly say that I've not noticed anything yet. Maybe because i'm not on here as regularly as I wish I could be, plus I've only been here I think 2 weeks. I sure hope that's not the case!

Today hasn't seemed as busy as the last two days. I am having lots of problems staying connected so I might not see everything.
