Go bananas

I really lost my patience two days ago that I impulsively reacted emotionally when my Nurse Supervisor informed me thru my co- staff of my changed time of duty. I was duty from 4 PM that day til 1 AM and she told me to work the next day at 9 AM due to the changes of duties of our doctors. So I was like "What the...!" I forgot already to count from 1 to 10 and headed straight to her post. We argued, and to make a long debate short I finally got the duty time that I thought was just fair for me.
But here's the message what Im trying to convey. The whole time we "argued" she never raised her voice at me despite of my aggressiveness (Oh please just try to understand me, My blood pressure raised to its peak that time)
So, we settled the issue which I realized later was just actually a minor problem.. I should have not allowed my emotion to overcome me. I should have relaxed myself first and see what shes gonna do before I put on my warrior like aura as if I was supposed to go to war.
So I asked an apology to her. But anyway she knows me. I already told to her before, in any job any workplace there will never be no arguments or misunderstanding. Whats important we knew its all just about our job. NOTHING PERSONAL.

Hmm..for once I was really wondering who this "patient" was until I read your post again. I never count 1-10 when I am angry..I just keep my mouth shut.

There are times when anger and frustration just get the better of people, even when the people are normally calm and collected. It happens, and we just need to realize it, apologize and move on trying to do better in the future.
I do not agree with how your supervisor handled the situation initially, because she should have been the one to come to you with the change rather than having your co-worker do it. Perhaps you would have reacted better if it had come from her in the first place. In any case, the issue could have been solved right away rather than you having to go seek her out to discuss it.

@happytobehereagain When you are in that type of situation, it is very difficult to just take a step back, breath and try to calm down, especially when you are not being treated fairly.

You are right there. Specially in our situation here that we always had to fight for our rights due to lack of proper management. So we are like always on our defensive mode.

It is good that you are able to settle the matter amicably. I think it is too much to ask anyone to come into work at 9am knowing that the person just got off at 1am. That is just a disaster at work, waiting to happen.

Thats is true. And while I am thinking here for what else to say I just have this thought that what she did was like an exploitation of worker. But at least she took my words and settled the matter in professional attitude.
