Today while I was returning from office at a point on the road large number of people gathered which drew my attention. I went to inquire and I found a buffalo lying on the road alive. I used alive because I felt why is it still alive? All the legs were broken and it is not in a situation to stand. I don't know how to react and to justify whose fault it was. Whether it was the bus driver or the buffalo owner . If it was a human in the buffalo place I am sure he/she would haven't been alive. what are your thought friends ? i don't know what heading to keep.

Some road accidents were caused by some irresponsible animal owners. They should have a place for their animals because it could either harm them or other people around especially those who are traveling on the road. What if the vehicle is a single motorcycle running on the road? For sure, human life will suffer.

@ARIES1973 You are right. I think the bus driver should have driven slowly because the grazing field was near by road and the buffalo was crossing the road. The bus dragged the buffalo at least five meters after hitting it. I am not saying it was entirely the driver fault, but he does share a major part in the incident.

@else34 It was a bike that is why he got injured, but what i was trying to point out is the rash driving by the heavy vehicle users. We find very few of the cases you mentioned, but we find many cases of dog being killed and more animals on roads at night time and vice versa.

@prashu228 I had once seen a bike running in full speed hitting a buffalo that was sitting on the road in dark. The black colour of the buffalo got mixed up with pitch black darkness and the biker could not see the animal. He was severely injured.

@prashu228 Don't know what to say. The truth is that cruelty is pretty common in nature.

Thats is so distressing! Finally did someone take it to the hospital or was it left there? Poor things, they are just left to wander the streets...I see some of them come and stand right in the middle of the road and they just dont move because they are not sure which way to turn!

I feel bad for the buffalo. I hope someone (a vet) could go there to help it. Sometimes, seeing animals in agony is worse than seeing human because we can easily help people but it's hard to help the animals who are in pain and most of the time humans are the one that cause pain to those animals.

It's sad to hear that. Is around the place gathered many buffaloes? I have read some road signs reminding the drivers to be aware of some animals, such has cows, kangaroos. I think everyone needs to play a part in this, the owner has to be more aware of the buffalo, and the bus driver needs to be more alert if he knew the place might get some buffaloes walking across the road. I wonder if the buffalo will still be alive.

@kaka135 Yes it is the place where many buffaloes gather for their food unfortunately only one buffalo was stuck in the middle of the road.

I feel so sad for the buffalo. The owner is to blamed. He should have looked after the animal well. Fortunately the buffalo was alive. Poor thing. He must have felt so much pain

It is sad to see an animal in distress. They have to live in strange unnatural places and it can't be easy for them. I watch cats cross roadways after looking both ways but squirrels run without logic just speed.

Well, you could have called the authorities to do something about this animal. Doing nothing only makes you even more sad and upset.
