I'm loving windows 10
Finally I upgraded this morning to windows 10 and so far I’m loving it because it’s much faster than windows 8/8.1 was.
Chrome seems to be faster, Photoshop and Lightroom are opening much faster. I’m able to do things quicker :)
Just hope it continues to be like it.
Do you have windows 10 yet, are you going to upgraded or wait?

I upgraded my desktop to Windows 10 last month, and just did my 2-in-1 last week. The only real issue I had was that it initially wasn't compatible with my ancient old LaserJet 4 Plus, but I was able to get the driver installed when I tried again last week. Now it's working perfectly, so I really can't complain too much.
It doesn't seem to be a whole lot faster than either Windows 7 or 8.1 from what I can see. But then again, my desktop is due for a RAM upgrade, and the 2-in-1 is mostly used just for internet browsing. Once I get the desktop up to 16 GB RAM I'm sure Photoshop and Lightroom will work a lot faster for me.

16GB would be great, on my laptop I've got 8GB, could do with an upgrade on that too. I don't have a desktop any more :(

I do not have the option on my little chromebook Kevin, but I am so happy that you have upgraded now. It must have some fabulous features indeed.
I have not really seen a lot about it, except for people scared of some privacy features, but as I understand it, these can be adjusted.
Hope it works good for you also with your photos.

@kevin1877uk Thanks. I just found out it's free to upgrade from 7 to 10. But I suppose I need to re-install all my programs, am I right? I have not done any Windows upgrade before, it's tempting to give it a try.

@kaka135 I didn't have too but I was on windows 8.1, there are options and I guess if you don't like any of the options, you could always cancel the upgrade. I decided to keep all of my file and programs, I could have done a clear start.

You should be ok, how old is you computer? April upgraded her windows 7 computer, (good few years old), had a problem with the video, she had to re-do the upgrade and now it seems fine. My laptop is just over 2 years old, had windows 8 and then 8.1. I hope that helps Gina

@Gina145 No I didn't have to reload any programs, you have a chose of what to do, keep, files and programs, delete apps or do a clean windows. I kept things, i too didn't want to lose things like software etc

@kevin1877uk My computer is less than two years old and I'm currently using Windows 8.1. It's some of my software that I'm worried about. Did you have to reload programs after upgrading Windows? If I have to do that I could have problems as I did with Photoshop when I bought my computer. I had received a discount in a promotion (upgrading from Elements) some years back and Photoshop no longer recognised that upgrade path. The person at their support wasn't very helpful either and it took me over a week to get it sorted out.

Good idea, I've not really heard much about windows 10, but I decided I would upgrade because of the dislike for window 8

@simone10 I'm sure you will like it, it will take some time to do, so only when you aren't going to be using your computer.

I have considered upgrading but am hesitant. One person told me that they lost the icon for their Outlook mail. They got it back but I think they went back to Windows 8. So you recommend it? If I'm going to do it I have to do it while it's still free.

@kevin1877uk I've read some of the comments below. I'm thinking I should try upgrading on a different laptop than the one I use for everything, and see what happens there.

Everthing I had on windows 8/8.1 is still here, when you come to installing you are given options of what you would like to do.

I am so glad you started this discussion. I've reserved my windows 10 update and it is just sitting there waiting for me to install it. I bought this computer second hand from a pawn shop the first of the year and It was running 8.1 I've been watching the reviews, what I could find of them before I actually install the program. I don't really like the windows 8.1. I don't like the way it is laid out and how many screens I have to go through to get where I want. I have been playing around with it though and have made a little progress. I was hacked recently and got scammed. They didn't get any money though since I didn't have any and I've got it back up and running again. I want to be sure I have gotten completely away from the hacker before I do the upgrade. The one question I do have that I have not seen any reference to Is will 10 work with Firefox? I don't want to have to learn to use chrome and I categorically refuse to use IE.

@kevin1877uk One of the reviews I read, if I remember it correctly said that I would need to have everything up to date on my computer and working correctly. For instance my dell backup and recovery says I need an upgrade and that my license has expired so I need to get a new one. Also I am running Avast anti virus. I was using the free one but when I ran into trouble with that hacker I decided to give their upgrade a free trial. As soon as the free trial was up some of the stuff the hacker had done showed back up and my screen froze again I was able to go back to the restore point we had used to fix it the last time and it put it right again. Then I was able to once again get the free trial of the upgraded Avast. This time the free trial will not run out before I can get the money to buy the upgrade.
But anyway, do you think I need to fix all those things before I install my windows 10?

Fire Fox still works, I use Chrome but I do have FF on my computer too and check it out. IE been changed and now it's Microsoft Edge which is so much better and very fast at opening pages. All in all I'm impressed with windows 10

Hello @kevin1877uk, I have also upgraded my laptop to the windows 10 os. I liked it very much. I feel it is more user friendly now. The new edge browser is also performing well for me. What do you feel? Don't you feel that it is better than the old version?

I have friends who upgraded to Windows 10 but then they said they returned to Windows 8 because of some incompatibility issues. Perhaps I need some advice from the experts as I do not know much about this thing.

I got the upgrade two weeks ago and do not really like it. Firefox keeps freezing more often than before and nothing is faster. I have already decluttered it and cleaned it up and got rid of 10 GB of junk. And I have problems watching videos, they do not run smoothly no matter what player I use.
But I do notice improvements from week to week so they ARE working on it.
