Missing things

I did a lot of online shopping for items for The Boy to wear back to school. He's been wearing some of the items. I am happy for him to try them on and even to wear them to see how he likes them, but he's already lost his favorite shirt. I don't even know how that happened. He washed it and hung it up to dry. I put it in the dryer to fluff it and left it folded at the end of his bed. From there, it disappeared into the ether. He has looked everywhere, he claims I doubted his thoroughness, so I went through his room with a fine-toothed comb. It is missing. It is no more. It is a memory, now. I know it will turn up long after we have stopped looking for it. It will be in an unexpected but not surprising place. And we will wonder how we never thought to look there. Do things disappear on you? I mean, do you lose things but they aren't really lost, just misplaced? Or are teens just more likely to misplace things than the rest of us. I am really going to be unhappy if we don't find it before school. Grrrr.

A few of my work clothes have gone missing. I find them piece by piece. I last saw my khaki's in the clean laundry basket, but they never made it into my closet.. they might have been put in someone else's pile by mistake. That's what usually happens around here. The kids do laundry and don't always know what belongs to whom. I try really hard not to let my kids wear school clothes before school starts. They usually stay in the original bag in my room until just before school starts when I get their stuff organized for them. Their aunt bought them a few things from Walmart. Then during band camp the twins needed superhero shirts, which their aunt had gotten them at Walmart, so they dug them out and I told them they could only wear it this once and then it was to go back. They've worn these shirts like 20 times since then!! That's why I keep stuff put away!

Yes I am afraid we are always searching for misplaced things. I am a bit of a scatter brain at times.

All the time.. they appear and disappear as if by magic. Its mostly got to do with my boys' stuff.

I have a tendency to lay something down when in a hurry and not remember where I put it. Most of the time, I do find it later. When my kids were teenagers, they lost things all the time, especially my daughter.

That kind of thing happens a lot with my teens - missing and forgetting things, especially if it's related to school.

Have you checked if the girl has taken it? Disappearing objects are a common problem in our house.
