I'm sitting here, trying to squeeze a little activity in while dinner's cooking... And Kid 2 toddles up, climbs into my lap like she owns it, turns those baby blues on me, and says "Owl bath?" So we watch the video of Kuu-chan the screech owl taking a bath. And the video of the owl that makes the funny face. And about six more before she decides we need to see Kuu-chan again. Finally, she hops down and runs off to harass her sister! I can get back on myLot! Not a minute later, she's back for more owl videos. But then she spots the doggy in AbbyGreenhill's avatar! I'm saved... for now.

You are more patient than me, and it is a good thing. In a few years, she will have her own Youtube channel and shall not appreciate her mom to look behind her shoulders. Enjoy today !

@yukimori The same than "Look, mom, it is a quetzalcoatlus !" I guess ? Encouraging children is one thing, but all are not so gifted, and she looks like a gifted child You can be proud of her. I am not sure I have ever seen an American black bear. Ours are smaller like everything here : cars, houses, dinosaurs, etc. This zoo camp is a wonderful idea.

Oh, I'm not patient at all. I really have to watch myself when I'm having bad pain days, because I get way too snappy with the kids just because they're being kids. Encouraging their interests really does pay off, though! We went to the zoo yesterday, and watched them feed the American black bear. One of the keepers brought out a bear skull and pelt and was talking about their teeth and how they eat meat and fruits and vegetables. I asked the 5-year-old what kind of eaters that made them. She thought about it a bit and said "Oh, they're omnivores!" They've agreed to take her in this fall's zoo camp even though she's a little under the minimum age requirement.

Oh gosh, mine loves trucks, too. And aircraft. She doesn't know what to do with herself when we go to Phoenix and end up near one of the airports. I'm looking forward to taking her to the balloon festival next month. She was a little too young to appreciate being up close to the hot air balloons last year... this year's perfect!

I didn't know owl pets take baths on their own. Now I want to see Kuu-chan too!!! YouTube is so entertaining. Kids today are so lucky in some ways.

Ha ha! Gotta love YouTube - free entertainment - and little ones always have their favorites there! Kuu-chan is too cute - my daughter is into owls and birds in general (but she is 10 - and guess what, they love YouTube at 10 too!!!!).

It's a rabbit hole with all the suggestions on the sidebar. The kid loves to point out the videos she wants to watch next based on the thumbnails. I think owls are probably her favorite animal at this point. Well, real animal. She's absolutely in love with dragons, to the point where she gets up on our bed so she can steal the various dragons we have up there and take them back to her room. I had to go fetch the heavy pewter statuette this morning. Kid 1 doesn't like YouTube all that much. She does spend a lot of time watching the PBS Kids videos on her Kindle, though. She knows a crazy amount about dinosaurs and pterosaurs thanks to one of the shows on there.

Awww, how cute. I love that age! Some of my grandkids watch youtube but it's always with a parent close by since they are older and could bring up something that isn't appropriate.
