Upgrade to Windows 10 for free?

I just came across a post from @kevin1877uk about Windows 10, then only I found out it's free to upgrade for Windows 7 and 8 users. It seems quite tempting, and I read from Kevin and other Internet resources Windows 10 is much faster. I'll be happy to work with a faster computer, but I'm still considering if it's a good time to upgrade now. We can upgrade while keeping the installed programs, which might be a good choice for me, so I don't need to go through the hassle of re-installation. I have also read that if we are not satisfied with Windows 10, we can revert to the current Windows version within 30 days. Perhaps it's good for me to schedule a time to upgrade my system. Anyway, I will have to reserve for the upgrade first, and wait for my turn. I don't know how long I'll have to wait. Are you planning to upgrade to Windows 10? What do you think about this upgrade?

I upgraded mine severalweks ago, before July 29th,when it was available. Ihad an icon on the right hand side of my taskbar, and I was albe to install it from there. I am enjoying windows 10, as I really haven't encountered anything that would cause me to go back to windows 8. I didn't like windows 8 at all, so that isn't an option for me, so as long as windows 10 runs smoothy, I won't have any problems.

It sounds good. Good to hear that so many people like Windows 10. I am more confident to upgrade it soon. Now, I just need to find the time to do so. I haven't try out Windows 8, but I've read many bad experiences about it. Glad that Microsoft offers the new Windows version for free now.

@rosekiss Yes, that's why I never thought of upgrading Windows version until I read Kevin's discussion. I usually have the same Windows version stick to my computer until I get another computer.

@kaka135 I am too, as before, if you wanted an upgrage, you had to purchase it or a new computer to get it, and I don't feel like doing either one, as my laptop is just fine for now. finally, Microsoft has done something right.

I haven't experience Windows 8 too, I read that it's not a good experience for many users. I always like to try something new, especially when I read it works faster.

@SIMPLYD I saw that it's quite different from the older versions, and that's why I like it. I always like to see the new layout. Perhaps it takes some time to learn and adapt to the new look. Good that you are not forced to upgrade. Some companies just force the staff to upgrade whether they like it or not.

It seems quite suspicious to me that you have only just heard of this. Anyone running a genuine copy of Windows would have been notified of this several months ago. Are you actually using a genuine copy of Windows?

Yes, I'm using a genuine copy, but I think it's because I have stopped the Windows Update. I found it quite annoying to run the Update automatically as it slows down my computer performance.

Yes, I'm planning to upgrade...at least when it comes to my desktop. As for my laptop, my youngest son doesn't want to...not after he found out that some of his games will not play on windows 10.

I think compatibility is still one of the main concerns. Since I am not playing games, so I should be fine with it. Perhaps your son can find some interesting games that can play on Windows 10?

I love windows 7. I don't want to upgrade to windows 10 because there are many software and games which are not compatible with windows 10 still now. And it will be a problem for me.

Well, I need to find out the compatibility too. Since I use mostly Microsoft products, I think it's fine to upgrade to Windows 10. I just recently upgraded my Microsoft development tool, I think that's the most important to me.

Thanks for your suggestion. I think I'll at least like it to be faster. Slow performance sometimes makes me impatient.

I've upgraded both my computers to Windows 10. I don't know how long the wait is. I reserved my copy, but found a way to manually start the process through Microsoft's site instead of waiting. I'm really happy with it now that I've gotten used to it.

Good to hear that. I am really tempted to give it a try. Do you get an option to choose to keep your installed programs as you downloaded it manually? Will you also be able to revert to older Windows version if you don't like Windows 10? I am also planning to skip the waiting period, but would like to have thses two options.

Hallo brother There is an issue hear i would like to talk about. As most of you might already know Microsoft has already already announced windows 10 a few days ago. I am a windows 7 user and i a have been using it for years now and have got tired of it and i now want a change. I am planning to upgrade to windows 10 once it comes out but my question is will windows 10 be better than windows 7? Or will it be a dumb like windows 8? I hope some of you may have some idea since you have seen the technical preview Microsoft has released on windows 10 a few days ago .

I have read some articles online. It seems like it's a go for Windows 8 users, but for Windows 7 users, we can still hold on and wait till it become more stable, perhaps in October. Since we still have almost a year for getting the free upgrade, perhaps we can still wait for a few months. What say you?
