Why do users have to argue?

I am asking this because I came across a discussion that has to do with the bible. I probably shouldn't have commented to it, but I did. Well, to make a long story short. it seems like the user that started the discussion, decided to argue with everyone that responded to his discussion, as he feels that he is right and everyone else wrong. I have decided that I will not be reponding to anymore of his discussions, as I leave his discussions, feeling defeated. This is a fun place, but a person likes that makes it not so much fun anymore. I don't want to feel that way, and I do need encourgement from others. Some of you may know who I am talking about, and others won't. All I can say is, he is not a person that you want to deal with, that is for sure. I will try to have fun, but he has knocked the wind out of my sails.

I avoid religion and politics the majority of the time or else I'd get into a screaming/yelling match I'm sure. Maybe that guy just likes to get people 'going'....more views/comments/likes

@AbbyGreenhill Thank goodness for that one too. He isn't worth my time or anyone elses for that matter. He got a rise out of me,but not more. I am done with him today, and any other day he comes in here.

Yea, I think he does like to get people going, or else he wouldn't be commenting back with the comments he gives. His comments border on hatred as well as they are mean anwers too. I am simply not going to respond to him anymore, as the more he comments and I respond, the madder I get, and I don't want to get mad either. He has really made me upset that is for sure, and Idon't want him to put a damper on me or anyone else in here having fun. Thank you for your response, and have fun.

Religion and politics are two topics that do not do well here as those who start already come with their opinions firm as a rock.

Yea, you got that right. Why start a discussion if all he is going to do is just argue anyway? He wanted us all to agree with him, but that wasn't going to happen, so he gets verbvally abusive, angry, and just plain meab, He is blocked now and going to stay that way. thank you for your response, and have fun mylotting.

It was a religious discussion that caused all the problems, which seemed harless at first, but once he commented back, then that is where the problems started, as he thought he was right and everyone else wrong, and it was the way he said things, that made it so bad. He was just so mean and vindictive, and I am glad that I blocked him so I don't have to deal with him ever again. Peace is what we need in here and not hate.

@vandana7 Those that put people in hell because they don't believe the way they do, is so wrong. I would never tell anyone that, as it would be judging them, and I am not here to judge anyone. I think the one that I was arguing with, was the same way, as he more or less told me the same thing. I didn't argue with him, I just left the discussion after commenting, and then blocked him, and he is still blocked. Not sure if he is here now or not, but I am not going to unblock him to find out.

Some people just like to argue - they bait people into their discussions and then hammer them with their opinions. That's not "cool". Most of us do want to keep it fun and light here - we don't need people who want to go on their power trips here. I would ignore him too!

Bellieve me, I am ignoring him as I know who he is. He has baited me, and I wish I had just not bothered, as he got me so upset, I just wanted to forget it. I don't want to do that now that I am back. His comments were just plain mean, and full of hate. I hope he leaves here and never comes back. Thank you for your response, and have fun.

@rosekiss Sadly, I think some people just like to get a rise out of people. The best thing to do is not give him that satisfaction - let him be and stay the heck away from him. And if I ever come across him, I'll be sure to stay away too!! Yah, let's just have fun here!

Some people like to debate and others just like to argue. Some people purposely start arguments because they want people to think like them is what I came to. . We used to have a lot of debates that turned into arguments back in the day on here. You would try to get out of them, but the people would try to push your buttons. That is where we all have to learn just ignore them.

@crossbones27 Thank you for saying that. Believe me, I was tempted to be uncivil, but then I didn't want to stoop to his level, so I just continued to be nice, while I was getting hatred and venom from him.

It got to the point where I just coulnd't take his hate and and disrespect anymore. I just finally told him the way I feel, and left, and then I blocked him. I wouldn't have minded it so much if it would have been civil, but he just refused to do that. He was right and everybody else was wrong. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.

@rosekiss Many seem not to know what civil means and it has made me act uncivil in the past, but learning to just ignore these people. Especially the ones that try to put you down. You handled it well and did it right.

I have since blocked the user, so he can't respond to me, and I won't respond to him either. He may not even be here anymore, and if he isn't then good riddance, as he is just plain mean and vindictive, and I won't have anything to do with someone like that.

@birjudanak He felt that everyone was wrong but him, and that just isn't right at all. We all have a right to our opinions, and should be able to express them no matter what. It is a shame that he feels that he is right and everyone else is wrong.

@rosekiss yes because some person are that kind of that they just want to prove us wrong by any how,so in this kind of condition we have to just keep our mind clear that that is negative person and we not want to fight with them so it better to quite.

I have not come across that post, and thank you for your advice, I really do not like to deal with people like this. I don't like to argue. I am happy to listen to others' opinions, even different opinions, I am happy to learn from different cultures and religions, but I certainly don't like others to criticize on others, even though it's not my culture or religion. I will just leave and move on, and ignore this kind of user in future.

Sorry, don't know the post you are referring to but I also think arguing is not vey cool. I am okay if people disagree with me, I disagree with others too but always think we should have respect for others. To disagree does not need to be an argue, I'm sorry you experienced this.
We can by all means just have fun.
However, serious topics or some topics over politics and religion can actually be serious not for fun. So I have kind of mixed feelings about them. If we want fun don't go in that direction?
On the other hand, many people can have bible discussions, joyfully. Yes they can.

I had responded to another discussion about religion, and that person was totally different. He never argued, as he had respect for all, even though he may not agree with us. I feel the same way. The other guy just chose to be mean and see how far he could take all of us, and he diidn't have respect for any of us, and that isn't right. I may disagree with others as well, but I will always respect them no matter what. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting.

Yeah, I saw that one, too. I have to admire the way that the user seems to have an answer for literally everything, but when it becomes apparent that the entire reason for starting a discussion is to start controversy and prove how ignorant everyone else is, well...
I know exactly what you mean about having the wind taken out of your sails. I had that happen at one point on here--don't remember what it was about now--but it was so discouraging that I think I stopped posting discussions entirely.
I don't really approve of the block feature here. This seems like the perfect occasion to use it, though.

I am not sure if he is my follower or not, but if he is, I am certainly going to block him. I thought at first, he was just singling me out, but I noticed he had done that to all of the ones that responded. I think he is nothing but a troublemaker, and should be dealt with. I just won't respond to anymore of his disucssions, as he thiks he is right and everyone else wrong. My feeling on that, is that he shouldn't have started the discuddion in the first place. That isn't what mylot is about anyway. I want to have fun, and not be arugued with. Just hang in there, and if that happens to you again, then just block them. Thank you for your response, and just have fun.

@rosekiss I think the really cruel part of that one was that it was attacking something so personal to so many users. I don't mind a good debate on the subject, but don't sit there and use it as a pretense to start telling anyone who responds just how wrong they are.

@yukimori Yea, he certainly was attacking what I believed and know to be true, and for that he is very cruel. I don't mind those kind of subjects either, when they don't argue, but when they argue, then that is where I draw the line. I told him the way I believe and that is it, and he just kept going and going. I have since decided his discussions aren't worth responding to, and so I won't at all.

There really is no way to win when it comes to religious fanatics. I usually stay away from religious posts for just that reason. They want to preach, not discuss.

Yea, you are right, as I found out the hard way. It seems like all the posts he recived, he didn't like, as we all didn't believe the way he did. I don't mind those topics, but it is how they discussed that makes them bad topics. If everyone could agree to disagree and there was no arguement, then it would be okay. He literally got mean and hateful, and that shouldn't have happened. Thank you for your response and happy mylotting.

@rosekiss I don't know who this user is .. if I do I would leave this scripture for him.. 2Tim 2:23 .24 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,

I try not to argue with others either. It is a shame when some have decided that they aren't really here to earn, but only to cause trouble. I was trying to to explain my beliefs, but when I did that, he just came back with a mean comment. I got tired of it, so I decided to block him. Thank you for your response, and have fun in mylot.
