What is a family tradition you do in the summer? One of the tradition in my family is going to the Independance damn. You can have a cook out, picnic, go fishing, seek out walking trails, camp and a small play area for kids.

We don't really have any traditions. Most summers we are too broke to afford to do anything. The past couple years we've been too busy because the kids get involved in Marching Band which starts in the beginning of July so there's always something going on with that. We don't have any family or anything around to do gatherings with, except hubby's 80ish year old aunt we visit each year.

We don't do much here either. I try to save up after Christmas. To do things in the summer if possible. I understand being broke in the summer. it sucks.

@katsmeow1213 This summer has been hard. As we are with out a vehicle. Since I am the only one bringing in any money via my social security, funds are limited.

@rusty2rusty We've done a bit more this summer than we have in summers past, we've at least gone to the beach a few times. I'm hoping to buy some camping gear and maybe go tent camping next summer. I've been wanting to go camping for years but haven't been able to due to the cost. If I can find the gear cheap enough camping wouldn't be a huge expense!

Many things, swimming, hiking, cooking out, and watching the fireworks.

@rusty2rusty That's okay, we only made it only a couple time and I live on the lake. Why only a couple times? It was the two canoe trips where we went swimming, but we didn't swim off our dock because my husband still has not fix the ladder. So we can jump in, getting out would be the struggle.

We don't really have any summer tradition. I never had any growing up. My husband has one - he goes "home" to see his family. The rest of us station HOME. With the girls older and working, it is harder for them to get away anyway. But because hubby puts his other family as his top priority we don't get to do anything. When the kids were little we used to try and go to a different place every year... day trips.

I still try to do things with the teens. Even if it is simple as going through fast food, grabbing just a sandwich and heading to the park to eat it. I like to go to the Independance damn. As it is a state park and doesn't cost anything to see the beauty all around us.

@rusty2rusty I really never see my girls anymore. Working during the week, off with boyfriends on the weekends.

we really don't have one..unless you'd count "the airing of the house".it seems to get a wee..stale? over the winter, and when you open the windows a nice fresh breeze comes in to blow out any dust or whatnot.plus, the cats enjoy it :)

I open the windows whenever I can and there is a nice breeze. Otherwise they are closed up to either keep cool with AC or heat up.

The tradition we have in the summer is a Labor day party every year. This year it will be Saturday Sept 5th. I hope it's a better turn out this year then last year and it doesn't rain.

Here in the Philippines it's not only a family tradition but even offices/companies and groups , have the tradition to have their summer outing . It's usually in the beach or a resort with springs and swimming pools.

Going to the beach, swimming pool or resort would be nice. I took the teens to the swimming pool twice this summer. It is closed now. Due to school.

There is no tradition as such. However, during summer vacations we try to go to any hill station for getting a feel of cooler atmosphere. Summer vacations starts here in May and ends in July every year. Schools and colleges remain closed during this period. New Delhi remains hot during summer and one feels like going to cooler places. However, one needs to plan in advance for summer vacations outing because every tourist place is crowded during summer vacations.

I am not sure if it is a tradition what i'll say later.when i was young, i lived in countryside, we have a summer harvest of wheat every year.We had to finish this harvest ASAP so that we donot encounter a powerful rainfall. And another reason why we are so ungernt is that we plant wheat, grain and maize together, after the reap of wheat, we have to irrigate grain as quickly as we can. If I can't finish my harvest in time, the other peoples's irritating maybe take some trouble for my unfinished harvest. So summer harvest of that time is ungent and with large labour intensity, and with high temperture!

I have missed the free museum days. As we do not currently have a vehicle. So, I have to find rides where i go. most summer is sitting at home.
