I am at present looking to buy a new used car, my brother has suggested I look for a diesel estate less than 10 years, less than 100,000 and either a Vauxhall or Ford as parts are cheaper. I love Volkswagen myself. If you were looking for a car would you go on make and model or the car and its history. I haven't a clue/ Help and advice please - looking at spending about £2000

Hello Ellie... I would go for The Volkswagen..very reliable and lasts forever!..But then I do drive a Ford Pickup so those are good too..Good mileage and dependability are my choices!

Take your brother with you if he knows about cars so you will get a good car in good working condition.

Saved fuel getting a piggy back home :)
My brother lives too far away to help but this was me at 3am the other morning so definitely time for another car

I absolutely hate Fords. Hate 'em! Ever hear the acronym for it? It's 'Fix Or Repair Daily'. What's funny about it is it seems to almost be true. Pretty much every Ford that I ever had was problematic...particularly my last one. I bought it from the original owner when it was 8 years old and had about 60,000 on it. 6 months after I got it, the darn engine blew up! Needless to say, I do not want any more Fords! lol Anyway, try to go for something that is Japanese or European. No American. And with any car, make sure it has been maintained and is well taken care of! Good luck!
