Honestly, I have never cared if coffee is good or bad for my health.
I like coffee, I drink it since I was a child and I cannot function without my first cup in the morning.
For many years, caffeine was supposed not to be good for our health, as a matter of fact it's a drug and creates addiction.
Now, for coffee lovers, there are good news.
Researchers have found that caffeine can prevent several diseases, just to mention some: stroke, dementia and even Alzheimer.
As an additional discover, it seems that only the caffeine contained in coffee is helpful and not the caffeine contained in tea.
Are you a coffee drinker?
Did you care about potential side effects of caffeine?
In my opinion, as everything, moderation is the keyword.

Tea has other benefits. What I am reading indicates we should drink both. I like coffee and drink a certain amount throughout the day. I have pretty much eliminated sodas. I like carbonated water with no sweetener. I drink my coffee black as well.

I don't mind caffeine, I get most of mine from Tea however, I do drink coffee but it is only once in a while.. I Usually have at least 2 cups of tea every night while I am at work. I find that if I drink it after I get home though, I will have a hard time falling to sleep when it is bedtime. So moderation is indeed important.

@LadyDuck that is me in a nutshell. I have learned the hard way with many night of tossing and turning that if I have a cup of caffeine (tea or coffee- sometimes soda although I rarely drink that) late in the day that I will be wide awake when I should be sleeping.. then I might have to take a Benedryl to help knock me out.. but by the time I realize that.. it's too late. lol

I love coffee and heard it is also good for your bones and your brain because it helps stimulates it or something. I imagine if you drink to much it is still bad though.

Just like you i cannot function well if i wasn't able to have my cup of coffee during breakfast . As to green tea , i drink it at snack time and lunch time . Sometimes at night when i have eaten a bit fatty food . I don't think of their caffeine , as long as i know i have my health benefits from them.

I always drank tea til my 50s then I changed to coffee.
I cannot go without my coffee.
If I had to of course, I would have to manage, but I would not want to be around me if I did.
I never cared to worry about what science is saying about it, I just drink it no problems.
That is great to know now that there are some benefits to it Anna.
I like mine not too strong, but definitely have to have the cream and sugar.

I have to agree with you.. Whether good or bad, I need my daily allowance of a pot a day.

@thesids I just think an 'apple a day' is over rated.

I drink coffee, but I'm not sure it's good for me, so I try to have as little of it as I can. Some days I need it to keep me awake through the day though. One hears so many different opinions about what is or isn't healthy that I wish I knew whom to believe.

@Gina145 I wonder why the so called experts always change their mind. In the past eggs were considered healthy, then they said to avoid eggs because they are not good for our health. Now they say they are healthy again, it's the same with the butter. I am convinced that good products in moderation cannot hurt.

I don't drink any of them although I occasionally do if the coffee is free and brewed or if the tea flavor is delicious. Oh wait, I remember my favorite so far is the cold Jasmine tea from Tokyo Bubble Tea Restaurant. YUM! It's like you're drinking flowers!

Right. My moderation? 4 or 5 cups a day, all before 2 pm. If I have any coffee too late in the afternoon (usually after 5), I get Night Terrors---"screaming like a woman" if I catch myself falling asleep in bed.

I am not promoting coffee but if we don't know what will happen in our life and which is our next hurdle or challenge then can be prepare for this challenge by taking a cup of coffee.it is gift of god which helps us well

I wish I felt less dependent on it. I enjoy drinking coffee, but I no longer have the caffeine euphoria. Instead, I get cranky and irritable if my morning routine of sitting in my rocking chair with a cup of coffee gets disrupted.
