Hello, MyLotters! Ever since my neighbors vacated the house next to ours, the rats in that house moved to our house. Last Saturday, I saw the plastic, where I put the bones that I will give to my dog, with hole made by the rats. It was inside my bag. Now, I'm worried that my things might be contaminated by saliva or urine of rat. I'm very much worried about the yarns. Actually, I'm not really sure if the rat urinate there. My bag/things didn't have foul smell. What is the best thing to do to disinfect my things? Is it really necessary to wash them with hot water? I'm planning to crochet the yarns first before washing them so they would be easy to wash. Since they are colorful yarns, I cannot bleach them. What would you do in this kind of situation?

But first of all do something to stop the rats from invading your house . Foods should be kept inside the refrigerator or for pastries at a tin can so they can't penetrate it .

Use Dora Rat Killer. It is effective unless you stop feeding it to them regularly. It is effective for mice but I don't know if it would work for big rats.

Just wash it with any kind of detergent would be fine. And don't forget to repair the hole that let the rats entering your premises. There are many reasons why we should protect ourselves with this creature. These animals carry diseases that cause serious health issues for us
