I need a vacation!

Ok, I really need a vacation. I am ready to transport to a place of peace and relaxation. Somewhere, where I can escape reality of life, just for a little while. Perhaps a week, would do it. I actually mean a vacation too. Not a trip to visit relatives. I want to escape it all.
The problem lies, is I have no clue where I wanna go. We just did the beach resort in Destin, Florida in June. However, that was to attend my step daughters wedding. So we were busy half the time, so it wasn't really a vacation.
Perhaps up to the mountains, where there is seclusion? Or perhaps a trip to a major city, to mingle and experience the culture of it? Decisions.. Decisions..
If you could go on vacation today (maybe tomorrow), where would you want to go?

I live alone so no vacations for me, as I can't afford to take one anyway. I really haven't been on a vacation in years, and I do miss that, but when you don't have the money, you just have to forego things like that, and just stay home and stare at the four wall.

Awww that is shame. Perhaps you can print pictures of places you would like to go, and tack them to your walls? It wouldn't be the same, but hey, use your imagination and escape for a bit.

@TexanTornado Yea,that would work, but then again I haven't thought about where to go,so I guess I will continue to stare at the four walls.

@rosekiss Why don't you throw some paint on them, and you can at least watch the paint dry.

@TexanTornado I want to go to some place cool and comfortable.. where it is not raining right now and there are hills and valleys and beautiful landscapes and less people. Its like easy for me to decide where i wanna go.. not too far away from home and yet some beautiful place.

Ah yes, it does sound wonderful. Just that serene feel can make a person feel so much better, and rejuvenate them.

I was a great one for holidays and until my accident 9 years ago I covered several countries but now although I am cleared somehow I do not want to take the risk - anything can happen but if I were to choose then that would be Alaska where the sea and mountains are in tandem. It was on my list.

@TexanTornado This accident was not when I was on holiday.
I thought only Norway was land of the midnight sun!!

@allknowing Oh ok. I understand now. Nope, Alaska is mainly daylight for like 9 months of the year. Or something like that. I never heard of anyone going where they had night time.

Oh no, you were in an accident on vacation? That has to stink. I hear Alaska is quite beautiful. However, I don't think I could handle daylight for 23 hours a day.

I know what you mean about the long air trip. It's why I haven't gone to Australia yet. Oh yes, I bet you have beautiful places close to home, and those are just as nice.

@simone10 I can completely understand that. Just be sure to apply sunscreen generously for it won't be so relaxing if you are burnt to a crisp.

Both sounds like good choice. Although the beach might be a little cheaper, and more relaxing. However, I understand completely on not sure which to decide.

Just start driving. Sometimes the best times come from a totally new local. We go up to McCall, a small resort town in the mountains. Beautiful drive and not too long a ways. It is lovely up there.

Oh yes, you have a point. I used to love taking road trips. Hopping in the car and just driving. Oh that sounds wonderful, I love the mountains in the fall.

Its really good to have a Vacation. Just to be away from the daily official Tensions and Frustrations of Job.
The best Idea to get a relief is Go to some places where you can really enjoy the Nature.
That will give you total relaxation.
Have a great vacation my friend.

I totally agree with you on all in which you have stated. Nature does make things more serene and give that peace of mind.

I wanted to spend a week on a paleontological site this year to excavate some dinosaurs (I am an archeologist, but I have never worked on a paleontological site), but as I am moving it will be for next year. I will probably take a week of vacation in September to visit some towns and historical places in Southern France. The holidays will be finished for many people, and the hotels will be cheaper

@TexanTornado When I was jumping from an excavation to another all the year, I made some exciting discoveries, the best in my memories was a complete Roman chariot found with the ornaments of a horse. I also found several statues or pieces of statues, among them a new/unknown Gallo-Roman god that I published with a friend (there is about one new god found/century, so I am proud of this one).
I am working mainly on Roman ceramology now, and new/unknown potteries are not rare.

@topffer That is absolutely amazing. I couldn't even begin to phantom how it would feel to find treasures like that. Yes, you have every right to be proud of your discoveries. I would love to be able to witness such.

Oh wow. Now that is quite interesting. Have you find any rare discoveries? Oh yes, moving would kind of interfere with a vacation. Oh you have a valid point, it's nicer when the airlines/hotels are cheaper.

@TexanTornado It will take you miles to get to where I am. You know, if I make it big here, I just might have that extra travel money. But that's wishful thinking.

I live in Canton, Pa Bradford county, in the boondocks. I am surrounded by mountains and trees and there is a lake nearby. God has blessed us for sure. If I were to recommend a place to go it would have to be the QUIET COUNTRY. City life is fast paced and stressful to me. I lived in Philadelphia Pa for a couple of years and I would never go back. I've lived in the country for 22 years plus as a child I grew up in the country and it is the most peaceful environment.

Oh sounds like you have the best all around. Yes, I enjoy living the country life more myself. I enjoy the seclusion of such. However there is times where visiting the city life (not living in it) is a nice thing too. To experience and explore the culture of a certain city.

Me too. My bf and I have been arguing a lot in the past three months. As I go back to my home country, we are in far apart and we can't really do much to boost the relationship. It would be nice to go somewhere to relax my mind from the negative relationship and consider the best option.
