How I Began Writing

Although I have been interested in the literature of my mother tongue Hindi since my childhood,I wrote my first article a few years back when there were no computers or televisions in my town.Any gadget we had then was transistor sets.I wrote the article offline in my mother tongue. Actually my younger sister-a girl of 9- was insisting me to buy her a transistor and my self respect was not allowing me to tell her the truth that I had no money at all.I promised her a transistor and she went ecstatic.Dancing with joy she conveyed the information to her friends that her brother- myself- would soon buy her a brand new transistor. I had no job then. After pondering over the matter deeply I decided to use my knowledge of my mother tongue and writing skills to earn money. I wrote an article and sent it to a leading Hindi magazine published by the Times Of India publications. They refused to publish it. To cut the long story short,it took me three successive failures and about a couple of months to get my first article published in the magazine. It was a short article. The remuneration I got was INR 100,an amount enough to buy a transistor set in instalment.I can't describe how happy she was when I gifted her the transistor.

@ifa225 Hi Ifamous,I,in fact, wrote many articles and stories in my mother tongue thereafter and they all got published and readers highly appreciated them also. But then circumstances changed and it became impossible for me to continue following my niche.

@Exactly,@Shampasaid.I would never forget it.In fact,it was my sister who forced me to write and gave my literary knowledge a practical dimension.
