What Is That Sound?

Every morning I sit out in the breezeway and drink my first cup of coffee. I can hear all the birds singing their good morning songs. It is a lovely way to start the day.
Lately I have been hearing this sound that sounds like a cat in distress but you can tell it isn't a cat. After all while, I have come to the conclusion that it has to be a frog. I never knew they could make sounds like that. I guess it depends on the type of frog it is. We have a lot of woods and open fields around us so I'm sure they are a lot of different types of frogs.
This morning I heard the same frog and also heard an owl. Every time the frog would sing, the owl would respond. It really seemed like they were talking back and forth.
I love nature and find it so amazing.

A lot of people don't just sit and listen to nature. My one friend was over at my house, and I tend to just sit outside and listen. We were one night and she was asking what was that. It's neat listening to them.

@simone10 That is very true. I find a lot of people don't tend to do this anymore, they don't know what it's like.

@ricki_911 It may have to do with the way they were raised. I remember as a child, sitting outside at night with my parents and just listening to the quiet while watching the stars.

I love these morning sounds. I should confess that I don't like the songs of the bullfrogs. It would have been interesting if you could understand what the frog said to the owl.. Maybe the frog was saying you shouldn't be hooting now and the owl in turn saying you shouldn't be croaking now. Maybe they were debating the issues as we are doing now.

I love hummingbirds. We have a big picture window in our living room. Right outside of the window is a rose bush. In the mornings and the late afternoons, we have a hummingbird that stops by to sample the roses. Every time it comes by, it stops and hovers right in front of the window as if looking at me. I know it is probably seeing its reflection but it's fun to think that it's looking at me.

That sounds like something you should record! It would be interesting for others to hear.

Some of the most beautiful sounds come from nature.
