The Girl (my daughter) has been trying out new hair colors ever since she hit high school. We've been through a lot of shades - some natural, some very unnatural. Eight months ago, her hair was blonde with red and blue stripes that ended up fading to nearly white with pink and green stripes. Around this time, she was graduating from hairstyling school and looking for a job. She found one, but they didn't want unnatural hair colors and so she had to dye it a darker color to cover the streaks. Once those had faded enough, she went blonde. Since then, she's been letting it grow out and now she has a lot of hair that is her natural brown color. Of course, now she has changed jobs and in her new salon, freaky hair color is okie dokie, so she's planning on dying it purple. I am not asking if I am an old fuddy-duddy. I know I am. I hate purple hair. I really don't like pink hair either. I like natural colors. Maybe it's okay for other people to have blue hair or purple hair, but I didn't give birth to them. I didn't love their natural hair. I am indifferent. But I really am not a fan of unnatural hair colors. They may be attention-getting, but I don't think they really enhance beauty. I think they detract from it. And maybe everyone is looking at your hair, but are they looking at you? That's not to say people should not dye their hair. But I think they should pick a color that occurs in nature. What do you think? Do you like the wilder colors for hair, or do you prefer natural colors? Have you dyed your hair funky colors? What colors do you think look nice?

My granddaughter Amie has a wide spectrum of hair colors. She was blue this time but usually she is pink or red. My husband told her she looks like the Sparkle paper towel fairy and she thought that was hysterical. She is in college on a full scholarship and is a stright A student. I say whatever floats your boat when it comes to hair color.

I imagine they outgrow the whole thing, but I still think it's better for costume parties than everyday life. I don't think it adds anything. But I am a fuddy duddy.

it doesn't really bother me.the way i see it,they could be doing worse things. i applaud their individuality, but don't really care to do it myself.i might have when i was younger, but back then they didn't really have good dyes like that..

I have colored my hair almost every color you could imagine. Growing up with a mother that's a beautician it was hard not to want to do something that wasn't traditional. But in my opinion purple is a very versatile color it goes with almost every skin tone, and enhances eye color. I had my hair like I said every color you could imagine but when I had it purple it was my favorite. In fact I am coloring it here soon for my family reunion. But if you want to try and sway here idea on purple try to see if she will go with a darker purple. It won't be a natural color but it will be similar to one. Something like a deep magenta would be really pretty for someone who has fair skin.

I never try any shade of hair color other than what is close to my natural hair color. However, my friend, who has a salon does my hair regularly, suggested that I use a deep plum to highlight my hair for a special occasion. I would have never done that on a normal day, but she convinced e that it would suit me very well. I was surprised that it looked so good on my almost black hair. That is the most adventurous I have been.

I dye my hair only with henna powder just to cover some grey strands of hair amidst my black hair. Maybe I am an old fashioned person so I would never try anything else other than this.
