I Should Go to Denny's More Often

Recently, I have read several stories of customers at restaurants who were emotionally damaged by notes left on their receipts by waitresses. And waitresses who were emotionally damaged by notes left on receipts by customers. One waitress left the customer in the hands of another employee while she went off to pump breast milk. The customer, not knowing that was the reason and only knowing her waitress disappeared on her, left a note, or no tip, or something like that. The internet was up in arms.
A lot of these incidents occur at Denny's. I don't go to Denny's often enough, I have decided. Maybe if I went there more often I could get a nasty note from a waitress and gain internet fame and the sympathy of hundreds of strangers with nothing better to do than to revel in misplaced outrage.
If I had the good sense, balance and strong limbs required for waitressing, I might take it up, just so I could get stiffed by a customer and tell my sob story to millions on the internet. Then I could start a GoFundMe and retire.
You know, I really do like that Grand Slam Breakfast at Denny's. Anyone want to go for breakfast?

Denny's is like the Walmart of food chains. A lot of crazy people go there and you see all types of weird things. The best time to go is about 2 in the morning when all the bars close or when your local bars close. You will see and meet the weirdest people.

I've been to Denny's several times in the last several years.I gotta be honest, it's GREAT drunk food... but, that being said, it is just that. the kind of food you look for after you have a good buzz and are looking for a good establishment you are looking to hang out at after you have been to the bar and are looking for to fill up on.

Denny's used to be better but the last few times I have eaten there, I thought all the food tasted the same. It was as if all the food is cooked in the same old grease on the grill. But I do like the pancakes with the blueberries and cream cheese icing. It's kind of like dessert more than breakfast.

Hmm I get what you are saying AnajP. I was a waitress for a good part of my life, til I had the opportunity to go to school for something else.
I was also a server in banquets, carrying 20 or more dinners at a time on a tray.
However, if there was a time I was ever stiffed, there was no pity party for me either, no GoFundMe page..those pages are so ridiculous at times..it is beyond belief.
Ridiculous.
Yes I will go to Dennys sometime when I can afford it lolz

Lots of waiters and waitresses in the family, I know what a hard job it is and sometimes customers can be so unfair by not leaving a tip. I would never not leave a tip. But these things happen to everyone at some time in their lives and we managed quite well before the internet to get back on our feet and move on. I think that was much healthier than the pity parties that go on in social media.

@Rollo1 Yes it does happen AnjaP. It is part of life. I think the pity parties are pitiful quite honestly. I agree with you whole heartedly.

I actually do work at a Denny's. Though I have been stiffed, I have never actually had a customer write a rude note on the slip or the table. And even if I did, I wouldn't facebook document it. That is a tad bit tacky personally...

@Rollo1 Yeah and I've been doing it almost 10 years. I seriously hope I'm not waiting tables another 10 years. It is pretty decent money, but it does wear on you.

I'm sad to say we don't have a Denny's close to us. We have one a few hours away but I don't think I've ever been to it. I actually really don't go out to eat for breakfast at all. I find that it is usually pretty expensive.

That is pretty low and hateful to leave nasty messages on your ticket for the waitress to see.

It's insane how some people get money these days. Yeah you got a bad note suck it up and move on its life and if that makes me a witch so be it

Thank you for the laugh. We don't have Denny's anymore where I live, but my ex mother in law used to work at one. When my husband and I are out, if we get good service we tip very well. If not, well, the waitress gets a couple of dollars at most.
