Tomatoes Coming out of my Ears

I was fretting for a while that my tomatoes were ripening so slow and only one here and there. Now they are non stop, sometimes 5 or 6 a day. I have given away tomatoes to a couple people and eaten enough to not want to eat any more for a while. I have been making batches of freezer sauce with the roma tomatoes and I guess I will make some with the big tomatoes(photo) too.I hate to because they are so big, pretty and sweet, but what are you gonna do?

Can you cut them up and make salsa and then freeze it for later? Dice them for use in bruschetta? Slice them for frying up with breakfast? Grab some of the green ones and a few apples and raisins and make green tomato chutney?

Do not tell me, I have tomatoes from my plants every day and I have enough to eat tomatoes. Now I have decided to make tomato sauce for spaghetti.

Hey, if I had tomatoes coming out of my ears I'd rent my ears to an italian restaurant ......... I'm actually jealous, this neck of the woods its hard to set up a good place to actually grow many of the vegetables that lusher areas take for granted, I have to set up some kind of shaded area because our heat is so intense.

Oh my goodness! Me too! I only bought 6 tomato plants this year and have had to freeze most of them because we just have so many. I wish I knew how to can so I could make some spaghetti sauce.

my tomatoes have been slow this year too..way behind.they just now are reddening.not a whole lot this year and small, but it's probably the non stop heat. the cucumbers are doing quite well tho.

Wow I bet they are so tasty and no pesticides too. You will have all sorts of tomato stuff to eat now. I would take a few off your hands if I were near lolz

It sounds like you really have a good green thumb when it comes to growing these tomatoes! That is wonderful. Its so nice to have tomatoes on hand for fresh sandwiches and wraps and canned or frozen ones for colder days in our future.

What a wonderful problem to have! I've been making chutney with an overabundance of pears. Maybe something like that would work for you. You could dry them in a food dryer, as well.
