Jamaica held its breath! Traffic came to a standstill as we watched.

Of course you may have guessed what we were watching. Sorry citizens of the USA but Justin Gatlin got thrashed by Usain Bolt in both the 100 and 200 hundred metres.
Seriously, traffic lights turned green and not a car moved as people were watching the race n their smart phones etc. Once the verdict was in then a mighty roar of joy was heard as all shouted and rejoiced.
On another note forgive me from being awol but our internet system is being upgraded and from last Sunday service has been intermittent and this is the first time for me in two days.
So we can boast of having both the fastest man and woman (Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce) in the world.
Isn't this something?

He says that he will retire after the next Olympics but he has been so inspirational to many other younger athletes in Jamaica and throughout the world

@thesids Yes - I would like to see him leave the sport on a high. he has the most medals ever! A very humble man - no scandal at all.

@cynthiann I would want him to win more at the next Olympics. I know a few here in India too who are inspired by his confidence and running.

We were a tad worried about Justin as he has been impressive for the past two years but Bolt pulled it off again!

Congratulations.
I was thinking about you just last night because we hadn't seen you in a couple of days. You really can't worry us like that!
Did you ever get hit by that hurricane??

Yes - track and field but many other events too. Nations from the world participated. It is a very gig event and Usain kept and improved on his record.

Heartiest Congratulation to you and Usain Bolt. Undoubtedly, he is the best and fastest athlete on this planet. Nothing succeeds like success so he deserves all the accolade and his country men too. It is always a great thrill to watch him winning the 100 meter sprint. I am his fan.

One of the things that I really admired him about was the courage to step away from the norm of being recruited into the US and represent USA like previous well known Jamaica athletes in the past. He really taught I suppose Jamaicans what patriotism means.
Then when he showed up at our Summer Olympics all of us including me just fell in love with his audacious performance on the track event the century sprint. What audacity where even the ex-IOC Chairman had to admire him from the stands. He commands the attention of the crowd even when he is not breaking the world records.
He is a real exemplary athlete off the field too never react temperamentally even when he was tripped over by one of the cameramen covering his celebration lap after his win. A true gentleman indeed.
It will be sad and a great lost to athletics if he retires however, I hope the Jamaicans in the future would be like him and represent Jamaica instead of another country.

Thank you for this wonderful tribute. He is a great man and has done so much for this country - has his own sport's foundation. The great thing is that we do have a younger crop of athletes coming up who are running very fast indeed. Usain has never let us down and is a credit to our little Island.

Congratulations on both wins!
Usain Bolt is in a league of his own. He is untouchable as of the moment and I'm thankful that I have witnessed him in his prime.

Sorry I didn't respond until now, but you wrote and suggested this post the first week of school, I was very scatterbrained at the time. So I guess this is a good thing that happened?
