Resurrecting Old Posts

I just did it earlier this morning . I resurrected an old post of mine , prior to this post . I can’t think of anything to post and I don’t want to drain my brain thinking of a new one , so I thought of scrolling at my old posts that doesn’t particularly pertain to an event and with just a few responses. I even looked for old interesting topics of some old active mylotters and commented on them . I think if it is worth discussing then we can resurrect old interesting posts . Do you agree guys and @PhredWreck ?

It has never be forbidden. I gave a link to one of my old discussions in a response, and I got two new responses. A friend suggested me a link to one of her old discussions, and I responded. Commenting several years later can be funny if the member is still here and plays the game.

However , we should choose those that still relate with the times now , right ?

@SIMPLYD It is common sense. I am not sure that a 5 years old news would have a lot of new responders

I have no old posts here, as I joined only ten days ago, but I believe it's a good idea to resurrect old posts.

@rollylolly we both thought it's that with @LadyDuck . It seems she was an old friend from here when i met her at the other site .

Good idea ! I too have a couple of old posts that got some responses ...It is interesting to go through old responses though and I see many of the old members are either not here or have come back with new names..

You can just suggest it to active members to resurrect it . When they respond to it then it's resurrected .

I deleted all my old posts when I left, only leaving the one telling everyone where I was going. I guess I could remove that since I am no longer there.

I don't know about that. I rather move on making new post rather than reviving the old ones, it's like a diary to me know reading these old post. I can't think of anything either but if you ask me there's a lot of talk about these days.

What do you mean by resurrected it? Did you repost it? Or did you just respond to the comments? I thought of commenting on older discussions here but it seemed like it would be a waste especially if the person who wrote it isn't active anymore. Or maybe I should comment on active members' older articles that interest me.

I think that is a great idea. I need to do that with mine. Last wekk, I got a response on one of my old discussions, and I was happy for that, even though it was just one, it could eventually lead to a lot more. I never expected anyone to respond, as it is several years old. I am just not all that good at starting discussions, but i sure do try.

@SIMPLYD I might do the same thing, and look for ones that i might be interested in responding too. Now that we have toi interact, it will make the discussions quite interesting and very long, which is good too.

I would agree with you. Many new people are now on board and it will be fun involving some of them on some of the older ones that we have. Of course, we would need to use the Suggest Feature to be able to send them the link.

I took all my old posts off here a long time ago. Maybe I should have left them on. But oh well. I can come up with wings to write about. I haven't started looking at some MyLotters older posts yet. I should. See what's interesting.

@SIMPLYD I have many ideas. Believe me. I always am writing something new for one site or the other. I have no problem rebuilding my MyLot content.

Hi Simply. I cannot do that as my posts are vanished due to whatever reason. I do not mind tho, as I am able to find new topics for discussions.

I think it's something good to do, as long as we are allowed to do so. I have come across some old posts via the "You might also like" feature, and I still commented on them if I have anything to say. Sometimes it's nice to read our old posts and see what we were thinking years ago.

Yes, I agree. There's nothing wrong with resurrecting old discussions, so long as they aren't outdated or anything. Okay, so none can really expire. However, there's no real point in responding to say someone asking if they should attend a wedding that already happened years ago! I wrote a discussion asking about that very thing several years ago. Seeing as the wedding took place shortly afterwards, there's no point in responding to it anymore...unless you really want to, that is!

We should choose topics that were responded by only a few and it should be a topic about a non-event . That way it can be related to by those active ones now .

Not sure if Mylot pays for making a comment on an old post, say an old post written during Mylot stopping paying or before that.

At most sites reposting a prior article is against the rules, but I don't see a rule here that would apply to that. Mine aren't 'old enough' to repost.
