As a Chinese student,I have been studying English for over ten years. However my English is so bad,Especially the oral English.Every English class we didn't have chance to speak English and we just study the grammar. So our English score is very high always, but when we meet a foreigner ,we can't use what we have learned in the class and say nothing to the foreigner.I want to know what you do with a new language and study well.

I think Chinese school in Malaysia is also like this.
It is normal to the Chinese.

@chunhoong I think it is also normal to Koreans based on what I've read online.

All you have to do is find someone to converse with so you can practice your speaking ability. I used to think I was also good in English back in highschool until I couldn't speak to the foreigner the same way you did. Haha. I got tongue tied and could only say one or two words. But now I can confidently speak to any English speaking foreigner!

We are so without education for languages in this country. It is generally not standard to study another language in schools, I think it should be.
Let me say this..I bet you speak better English than some who English is their native language!
Natural speaking to another will make it easier for you to master actual interaction.
You will do excellent:)

You're so nice.Thank you.Maybe my grammar is Ok,but my oral English skill is totally bad.So I want to travel to foreign countries tomake some friends and I can also practise English speaking. At the same time ,I can also teach them my mother language which is very interesting.

@EvianGan That is how we learn. By being in the place for a time and interchanging language. To me it is the best way. Always welcome Evian.

i am trying to listen sentences in the respective language, try to write them and finally translate them. is very efficient and you will have no problems to talk with a foreigner. (works for me)
