Squat Challenges

You know those exercise challenges that are all over social media? There's hardly a way to visit the Fitness side of Pinterest without being invited to try one. Basically the idea is that you pick an exercise, (I picked squats) and start by doing a certain number of reps on day 1. then add say, five more to that target on day 2. And on day 3, you do five more than the day before. Over a period of 30 days, you can imagine that gets up to a pretty impressive number. The first time I tried a Squat Challenge I saw such quick toning of my legs that I was pleasantly suspicious. Since then, I've kept daily squat routines as a tool to stay a little toned during hectic seasons. Have you ever done a exercise challenge?

I am more into Twinkies challenges. Like, how many snack cakes can you eat? Actually, the only challenges I take up are writing challenges.

I'm doing an exercise routine targeting the gluts that works on a progression like you mentioned and it includes squats. I am doing regular squats but I am scared to do squats with weights. I've heard too many people who have back problem from doing weights squats either improperly or with heavier weights than they were ready for!

i have never heard of that, but that seems to be a good challenge. I rarely exercise though, because before when i exercised a lot... my body felt sore.. i think i exercised wrong... my waist ached for a few weeks

Not done an "official" challenge but just compete against my own record.

Not a challenge no. But I have exercised by doing squats before. They do help in a pinch if you cant do anything else at the time, but I prefer isometrics exercise.

ah, just a few days ago I saw an isometrics workout that I'm planning to try out. does that leave your muscles sore or just limber?

@Webiny It does not feel sore to me at all. It is so effective tho. I have been doing them for years on and off. My body is quite firm for my age because of them.
