I just learned this fact about mangoes that India is the biggest producer of mangoes. And it is followed by China. One more thing I learned today.

Yes that is true and another fact is that we have more than 50 varieties of mangoes in all shapes and sizes and some are used for cooking ... We have 3 trees yielding 3 different varieties of mangoes in our garden and during summer we have plenty of mangoes ..

@else34 Yes even in south India and in my own town we have Mango trees growing by the road side and on hill sides and just about everywhere ...The same with the Jack fruit trees , they grow all over the place !

@kiran Yes,we are blessed with a large number of varieties of the 'king of fruits.'In Uttar Pradesh I have seen large farms of mangoes.

Yes India is the biggest producer of mangoes. I love mangoes but not all varieties. I don't enjoy apple mangoes and indian mangoes as much as I enjoy our very own sweet carabao mangoes and pico mangoes

Are those the big , yellow when ripe and so sweet type ? We call it "carabao " mangoes here in the Philippines. They're so sweet and juicy !

You are right Marie, India is the biggest producer of mangoes. I am from western part of the country and I have grown eating mangoes during seasons directly from mango orchards. There are different kinds and qualities of mangoes from different part of India. Altogether, more than 50 types of mangoes are grown here. The best among them is Alphonso, produced in the state of Maharashtra and it is exported to Gulf, UK and USA. The mango season in India is from April to July.
