Yes that is true and another fact is that we have more than 50 varieties of mangoes in all shapes and sizes and some are used for cooking ... We have 3 trees yielding 3 different varieties of mangoes in our garden and during summer we have plenty of mangoes ..

You are right Marie, India is the biggest producer of mangoes. I am from western part of the country and I have grown eating mangoes during seasons directly from mango orchards. There are different kinds and qualities of mangoes from different part of India. Altogether, more than 50 types of mangoes are grown here. The best among them is Alphonso, produced in the state of Maharashtra and it is exported to Gulf, UK and USA. The mango season in India is from April to July.
