My kid's school does not give homework to students. Everything is done inside the classroom. Experience has taught them that when a child is given a project to be done at home, it's usually the mother who plans and executes it. I am happy with this kind of set up. It gives the children time to bond with their families when they are at home and time to study and review their lessons.

@mahaja ... it is indeed difficult to be a working mother. My eldest son did have homework when he was still studying, and that time I had a job as well... all I did was guide him with his school works. Later he learned to do it on his own, he'd only come to me if there was something he couldn't handle. That's why I enrolled my youngest son to a different school because I have learned that they are implementing a no homework policy. And I really like it. Kids should have time to play at home after school and not spend the rest of their day still doing school work.

I am a homeschooling mother, so I think I am helping my children in school work and projects, as I am planning for the lessons and projects. I'd prefer we actually guide our children, but not really help them to do everything, so they will learn more. I usually try to let my children do things on their own, I am there to support if they need me, otherwise I just let them explore and experiment. I agree with you that there's only one childhood time for the children, so we have to be there with our children, no matter how busy we are. That's why I chose to quit my office job and stay at home with my children.
