My day trip yesterday and what happened

I was asked to go with my daughter in-law to Iowa to find a couple of mirrors, we left around noon and as it takes an hour to get to Spenser and Spirit Lake we stopped at a few stores but found nothing so we went on to another city. We first stopped at a restaurant and I had some potato soup while she had some soup and a sandwich which were very good. Next we stopped at a nice store where we both found something we liked. What I found was on sale and you will not believe but I bought all these stuffed animals for $2.00. They are the ones in the picture and I have given my dogs one each for now and their little friend will be here soon and I will give him a toy also. This was a lot of fun and I love seeing how my dogs react to new toys. By the way no mirrors were bought...go figure....

$2.00 for the bunch of these stuffed ones is quite just awesome Long back I was into making these "soft" toys where I would spend hours and hours to create one Big Teddy. Never found a place to sell them off or even make any dime from them. Back then, the ones they purchased were from Archies Galleries. Today, I think the scenario has changed and if I ever went back to the doing of these toys, I might put them on sale on many sites around

If you did make these types of toys let us know and I would definitely buy one if I could afford it. You could put them on any of the sites around. The store was closing out a lot of items and since I bought so many they gave me a good price on them, some of those were worth more than what I paid for the whole lot of them.

@thesids Sids, that is to bad that it cost you so much out of pocket and could no longer afford to do it. Sorry you couldn't find a place to sell them on .

@Marcyaz I did some of them long back during early 1990s. I had to gift away most of them to friends and relatives as I could not find a place to sell back then. As it was an expensive hobby - not only in procurement of the raw items, but also in terms of the time I had to spend in doing them - I did all by hand and no machines/devices. I had to give it up as I could not afford it.

They are happy as they always love to receive new toys and it brings a smile to my face to see them happy and playing with their toys.

Isn't that always the way you either find what you are looking for or you find something different

Our dogs are like children, no doubt. But I know my mothers dog would have those boys in little pieces and probably start eating them. And the Husky we had, forget it. I had given him a little doll when he was a puppy and I named it crazy Eddie. He ripped the head right off it. I had to throw it away.

Your comment about ripping the head of and crazy Eddie I had to laugh it struck me as so funny. I used to have a dog that would tear out the eyes the first thing then chew on the nose until the stuffing started to come out. Of course I had to take the stuffed animal away then and I had to hide it or she would go and take it out of the trash. Dogs are so funny about things like that. Well geez I was going to send you some of the extra ones I have here for your mothers dog but guess she wouldn't appreciate them. Oh well another time maybe.

@Marcyaz The funny thing is, the Husky we had loved toys as a puppy. But then he didn't bother with them when he got older. Same with my mothers little lap dog now. He don't play with his toys anymore. He loves being on your lap and getting petted though. I don't mind.

Its so much fun to find a bargain, glad you had a good day. I used to give my dogs stuffed animals to play with also. They like to have their own stuff. I also used to give my rabbitt a stuffed animal. The best one I gave him was a rabbitt that looked like him. He feel in love with her. He took care of her, he held her, hugged her and groomed her. He also cuddled with her. Animals have feelings and they also like to have something that is theirs.

@Polly1 They do like to have something they can feel is their own private item whether it be a toy or a blanket. I love it that your bunny liked his look alike stuffed bunny. I never knew bunnies were like that, thanks for letting me have some new information today.

My daughter in-law never did find a mirror she liked so we will make another trip some other time to find one. I would like to go back to the Perkins restaurant and have that soup again as it was so good and we had an enjoyable time. Nice waitress also. Won't buy any more toys though as those were enough to last for a long time.

I have often gone out in search of something and returned with something else I didn't even have in mind when I left.

I usually go for something and come home with what I went for. I don't like to do a whole lot of looking as I become tired and start getting antsy.
