Have you ever lost your cellphone?

A few years ago, I was shopping with my daughter at Walmart, and my cellphone had fallen out of my purse onto the parking lot. I didn't know I had lost it. so when we were shopping in the store, my daughter had received a phone call about my cell phone. Of course this person had no idea she is my daughter. She answered the call, and the lady on the other end told her that she had found a cellphone in the parking lot, and asked her if she knew me, and my daughter told her that I was her mother. My daughter proceeded to tell me that my cellphone was found out in the parking lot. I checked to make sure that I had my cellphone, and I didn't. We both met the lady out in the parking lot, where she found the phone, and sked me if it was mine. I told her that it was, and I thanked her for finding it. It just goes to show there are good people in the world. She could have just forgot about it, and taken it, and I would have been without my phone. Since then, I have always made sure that I had my phone in my purse, and didn't lose it.

This is a terrible story not just for me. several months ago, I played basketball with my friend in our school yard. As usual, I put my personal belongings include glasses, cellphone, student card, etc on one side of field near a lamp post. I was doing like this because i childishly though that nobody would take it for there were lots of people in the field. Ater a while, i came to lamp post to see the time whether it is a dinner time. then I was shocked to find that the phone was gone. I felt frustrated until my friend told me that i could ask school police for help. After viewing CCTV police surveillance showed a old woman picking up empty bottles in the field took my phone. In the end , I did not ask police to get it back from the old woman, not because the cellphone is not worth much, but it would bring charge to the old woman. This thing really had made me unhappy for a while cause it destroied my trust towards society. And the trust is much more precious than the cell phone. That is my story. Thank you!

I actually lost my entire wallet - which had a pocket for my phone. It happened as I got out from the car to escort the kids to their school - I think. I backtracked and looked everywhere - it was no where to be found. So I ended up going to my mom's house to cancel the phone and about half the cards I had in the wallet. At the end of the day, a guy knocked on my door at home and returned the entire wallet with the phone - I could not believe it! I guess he found it as he had parked his car on the same street I did for us to get to school. Boy, I was lucky this time. This happened in late May,

We were both lucky as the ones that found our phones, we kind enough to give them back. In your case though, it would have been really bad if you hadn't got your wallet back with everything in it. I am glad that you got it back. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.

@rosekiss The phone was super easy to reactivate. But the stuff I had canceled in the wallet was indeed canceled and I had to wait almost 2 weeks for another set of cards - that was a bit of a pain. But at least I did have phone access again by evening and didn't have to pay for another phone! Happy myLotting and weekend to you too!

@much2say I was lucky too, in that I got mine back the same day, and didn't have to do anything, as my phone was still working, so I didn't have toreactivate it. At that time, it was a flip phone, and the only phone I had. I still only use a cellphone, but the one I have now, I would hate to lose even for five minutes, as it is a smartphone, and I use it everyday.

It's so kind of the lady. Yes, it's so great to know there are still good people around the world. I just read another discussion about some dishonest people trying to take away someone's left behind cellphone. It's sad to read about dishonest people, but I am happy to read your discussion here. I have not lost my cellphone before.

I have misplaced my phone several times. I would give a ring from my other phone and I would hear it ring at the most unlikely of places (lol)

I have not way to call to find my phone, as it is the only phone I have, so I better make sure I know where it is at all times. I keep it on the laptop table, where I know where it is, and when I need to go out, then I will put it in my purse, so I have it.

My iPhone will fall to the floor, but I have a case on it, so it hasn't received any damage so far. I try to prevent that from happening, but I keep falling asleep while useing it, and bam, on the floor it goes.

@Boonie1 That will do it for sure. I never take the case off jmy phone, as it is to hard to get off, and I would be afraid I would drop it, as it is very fragile with lots of glass.

I am glad that I got it back too, as the person that found it could have been mean and kept it, and I would have been without a phone. Now that I have a more expensive phone, I make sure that I always leave it zipped in my purse, so that it won't fall it, and I will have it when I need it.

Wow, that was very kind of her. Yes, I lost my cell phone some years ago. I had been in a bookstore when it happened. I didn't even notice that it had dropped. It was only after we got home that I realized it was missing. I ended up calling my phone. Fortunately it was still on and someone from the store answered it, so I was able to get my cell phone back.

At least you learned a lesson from it. I have never lost my cellphone before because I am careful to it. Especially when I go out, I will keep alert for my wallet and cellphone. Unfortunately my mom and my husband also lost their cellphones and I doubt whether they will be careful after that.

She is very kind and honest to help you with the cellphone. I almost lost my phone when I was in music concert around four years ago. In the crowded, a teenager tried to steal my phone. Yes, that guy had taken it already, but then my boyfriend ( now my hubby ), realized that and chased the guy. My BF snapped him and forced him to returned it to me. After that we back home and it made us never want to watch music concert in crowded anymore

I am glad you got your phone back. I am so careful now when I go out, that my phone stays in my purse, and if I take it out to use it, that I put it right back. I don't like a lot of people either in one place, and an music concert would be a great place for people to want to steal cellphones. They don't have one of their own, so they end up taking a phone that someone worked hard for. Thank you for responding, and happy mylotting.

I have this cellphone of mine which is memorable for me. I had it for three years. So I really kept it for some important reasons aside that I am using it for communication. When I had my baby born, I used it for her to listen lullabyes and musics. And one day, my nephew took it with her in the school. One of her acquaintance borrow it but did not return it. She lied to me that she did not took it but with thorough questioning, she admitted her mistake. During the incident, she reported it to the police station. What to complain with that undegage young lad. So to be hassle free - I just forget but hardly forgive for that guy.

You did the right thing questioning him as he shouldn't have taken it to school, as someone is bound to take it which happened. At least it was reported to the police, so that could get it back. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.

Now, that I have an iPhone, I am very careful with it. I make sure when I go out, that it stays in my purse, and if I take it out, I hang onto it, as I wouldn't want anyone to take it. I have learned from almost losing my otherc cellphone, that Ido need to be more careful, and I have been.

You got that right, as it is hard to find honest people in this day and age, as most are just out for themselves, and don't care about others. Thank you for your response, and happy mylotting.
