Yes, it was fiesta time at our hometown yesterday, August 30 . My husband and my in-laws went there to partake of the foods my sisters prepared for the fiesta .
I was already there Saturday , because i really would like to feel the fiesta ambiance . I watched the civic parade and helped my sisters in their food preparations . Just doing these things can really make you feel the fiesta feel.
How i wish i can post the pictures here but i think we can only attach one to show you the foods prepared for the fiesta .
Pick your choice of food ! Which one do you like ?

I ate enough only . A few tablespoon of rice only , and some favorite viands like the fish salad and more of the lechon of course . But for the dessert , i ate much of them ! But before we finally went home , my sister have me take out some of my favorite viands . That' why last night , i didn't cook anymore . Tonight , we will have the other take out viands .

With that blue and white item they call cake, do you think there is anything else I would at ?
And I would like to have one big Ice-cream or even a fruit salad or even a Fruit Custard to wrap it up. But I dont see any of them around
It s always a wonderful feeling when I read about family get-togethers and the fun times with family that any of my friends share

Me too , i like spicy food , like the Bicol Express ! We don't have that though on that buffet table because that is an almost ordinary dish for the Bicolanos . What about the lechon , don't you love it too. Scroll up to one of my comments and you will see the lechon at the fiesta .

@SIMPLYD - It is interesting to know that there were yummy dishes. Generally we do not eat pork. I can understand that roasted pig would be delicious to eat.

Oh , so you are a vegetarian ! But seafood is healthy just like veggies . Do you like buko (young coconut ) salad ? It's one of the desserts . What about leche flan ?

I think most of us like lechon and can't resist it because it's so delicious specially when the skin is so crispy . We forget that it is high in cholesterol . But i suppose you are still young to be thinking of a higher than normal cholesterol .

SO MUCH FOOD! And it looks delicious.
One day, when I'll be globe trotting, I'd love to be a part of this fiesta, and taste a bit of everything rather than grogging over that lechon.
By the way, have you ever been to India? You'll love it here, especially the food. :D

@BrainySaber That's good that you also eat pork . So you can also eat the lechon . But have you tasted one already ? I suppose they don't have it there - only here in the Philipiines and in places where there are Filipinos.

@SIMPLYD The lechon looks tasty. If I've tried octopus, what can refrain me from eating pork? :P Actually, my Grandpa was in the army and he had a lot of pork there, so now whenever I go to my Grandparents' place, all he does is praise pork. Plus, in India, you can get pork. I first had it in Kerela with my Grandpa, and it was tasty.
P.S. I don't follow any religion (part agnostic, part atheist). :)

Besides the usual reasons of fun and gaiety I have another more practical reason why I like celebrations - I have so much left over that I dont need to cook for a few days .I just have to make fresh rice and rotis and add a little something here and there to the leftovers and serve them...

Oh, so juch yummy food, but I don't know what you have there, but at my daughter's birthday party this year, her boyfriend's mother (who is also from the Philippines, had made this delicious dish with meat and rice and veggies. I think the mother said it is made for birthdays for long life and normally made with pork but since my daughter told her we don't eat pork, she was so kind as to make it with chicken.
Also, as far as pictures go, you can post them in the comments of people who reply. However, that if you get enough replies. I mean I guess you can upload photos to one member's comment, but I think it is cool to scroll down and see the different photos.

Usually , the Filipinos would prepare for long life on birthdays , the stir fried noodles with meat and some shreds of cabbage , beans and carrots . Or spaghetti .
But you said dish with meat , rice and veggies , that's what we call paella . So yummy dish and the rice is colored a bit yellow ?
Take a look at what i attached to @thebusysids . That's my favorite - lechon ! The skin is so crispy and delicious !

The roasted whole pig in the comment i made to @thebusysids is what we call lechon . And the rest are meat dishes . THe one near the rice is the kare-kare , beef stew with chopped peanuts and peanut butter sauce , with some shrimp paste as added seasoning as you eat them.
