Blue Bell is Coming Back

Blue Bell is coming back to Texas, like within the week, and that is always exciting news for the people around me. The thing I don't get is the hardcore Blue Bell elitism. Why is everyone so obsessed with it? I understand that it's good, but maybe I'm just not enough of a sweets fan to see why people ONLY eat Blue Bell ice cream. Personally, my favorite ice cream is French Silk by Dreyer's. It's twice the flavor with half the fat -- what's not to love?!
What's your favorite ice cream? Are you a Blue Bell elitist like the rest of them? How has the Blue Bell shortage affected (effected?) you?

Nestle is possible here, but not really when it comes to ice cream. I do love frozen yogurt. There are a few local places in town that serve frozen yogurt, so I never buy any from the stores. Where in Europe are you from? I love hearing about different eating habits and preferences from people all over the world!

@LadyDuck That is so interesting! What do you think are some of the biggest changes you've had between cuisines in different countries?

We don't have Blue Bell here but I had heard about the problem through Facebook friends who are in the southern US. I love all ice cream, especially one of our local favorites "Friendly's" who make a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. Oh my, so good. You were right with "affected" btw. Your first instinct was correct.

@RachelDSims24 No, Friendly's is local to the Northeast. They used to have a restaurant in every town but many of them have closed. They now sell their ice cream in supermarkets.
If you drink poison it will affect you because poison can have bad effects on your body. Affect is the action of something upon something else. Effect is the result of that action. Another use for effect or effects could be "The new legislation will have serious effects because of widespread change in how banks do business in that state" Or "The law goes into effect today, it will affect many deposit accounts."

Ha, thank you! What is the difference between affected and effected? I can never remember.
I've never heard of a "Friendly's" unfortunately! Maybe it's not a southern thing. :/

I didn't know there WAS a Blue Bell shortage so I guess its safe to say they are not my favorite.
I don't really have a favorite brand. My favorite flavor is Butter Pecan. We usually buy a huge tub of neopolitan at teh grocery store. Not my favorite, but something for everyone.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of Neopolitan because I'm not a big fan of strawberry ice cream. Butter Pecan is great. I actually think you'd like the Blue Bell Butter Pecan, because they make a really good one.

@RachelDSims24 I'm actually the only person in this house that will eat strawberry. Last time I told hubby just to get a chocolate/vanialla half in half because I didn't think I could eat THAT much ice cream on my own.

@nonersays I'm just not really a big fan of sweets in general. It takes me a week to finish a chocolate bar!

Exactly. Ice cream is a delicious sweet treat regardless, to me.
