First day returning to work

It's not me, but my husband. He has been working as a freelancer and part-timer for about 3 years, and today is his first day returning to permanent office work, from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 6pm. He has been a great helper at home. Since my little girl was born, he has been helping out at home, doing the house chores, cooking the meals, taking care of the kids. Though he still needed to work at home or went out to work sometimes, he helped out a lot. I think my children and I will feel a little bit uneasy while he needs to go to work everyday for so many hours. We are so used to stay together as a family for almost everyday in the past 3 years. He needs to depart before the children wake up, hopefully he'll return home before the children sleep at night, so the children get to spend some time with the dad. I am sure we will be fine, I will still be enjoying my time with my children and I will take good care of our home while my husband is working hard outside. I started to miss him very much while seeing him leaving for work this morning. I am imagining how I will be if I am returning to work after being a stay at home mum for more than 4 years. Have you been away and returning to work? Would you like to work from home or go to office and work?

I have been a stay at home mom for more than 6 years . At 2006 , i decided to work again on this present job . Now that i have my present job , i can say that i don't want to be a stay at home anymore . Having a new job gave me confidence , my own money and can buy anything i like without bothering my husband . Most of all , i don't get bored and burnt at all anymore .

Yes, I think working outside gives us more money and work satisfaction, it's something different from working at home. I am glad I can still work from home as a freelance programmer, though I don't get many work projects, at least I can still have some work satisfaction. I haven't feel bored at all, but definitely burnt out sometimes - wearing too many hats.

@hereandthere Yes, I agree with that! I used to see my pension growing, but it stopped when I stopped working in office.

@simplyd you might end up with a bigger pension, too, due to more monthly contributions.

Do you enjoy working from home or working outside (for others)? I think I prefervworking from home, even working full time, as it's more flexible and I can spend time with my children. But it can also means that 24 hours a day can be working hours and we need to do almost everything on our own.
