Have you ever lost a car?

I did. I lost one a long time ago. However, it didn't belong to me. It had belonged to my mom.
My mom had given me permission to use her car, so I could go to the mall. My husband/then boyfriend and I had met up for a date as they have a movie theater inside of there.
It was still bright outside when I got there. After I parked my mom's car, I made sure to take note of the surrounding area, as the parking lot is huge. I didn't want to forget where I parked, after all!
After the movie was let out, it was dark outside. My husband walked me to my mom's car, but I couldn't find it! It was nowhere in sight!
My first instinct was that my mom's car had been stolen! Needless to say, I was scared. I started to panic!
Still, my husband and I searched high and low throughout that area! But we came up empty handed!
I was about to call the police when my husband said "Let's look over there!" and pointed to an area that looked exactly the same as the one we had been at.
By this point I was distraught. I thought my mom's car was gone for sure, but I went with him anyway...
And there it was! My mom's car! Safe and sound! It had been there all along, right where I had parked it! Phew! lol
By the way, in case you are wondering, there were two front entrances to this mall that looked exactly alike. However, I hadn't taken notice of it until that night as I usually parked in the back!
So, what about you? Did you ever lose or misplace a car? Were you able to find it again?

Dude, where's my car?!
*cough* Okay, seriously, I've occasionally had moments where I've thought that I've lost my car in a parking lot... and walked right past my husband's car, which was right where he'd left it when we got there.
In my defense, my car is the 'family' car so we rarely ever take his anywhere if we go out together.

@sacmom No, what's bad is that I do it every. single. time.
We take his car out, I completely ignore it in the parking lot because I'm running on autopilot looking for mine. I guess it helps that they're completely different colors... maybe? lol

No, I never misplaced a car. Now I can get a little confused at times, and it will be one row over or something. Oh and now they have this great invention of a keypad, where so many people just press the alarm and can find their car.

@sacmom Nope, I guess I have been lucky thus far. Whispers or it could be because I always have someone with me when I go some where (or 90% of the time)
Ok, well then use that. I'm sure it will catch your attention after a while. That is if you can pay attention? I know how expensive it is. Just teasing you. Don't take it wrong.

I've done that, but only for a moment as I would always find it eventually. However this reminds of a time we went to Dodgers Stadium with my friend who drove. She did not remember where she parked - and the rest of us only knew the side of the stadium where she parked. I think we spent over 45 minutes looking for her car!!!

@sacmom If you've ever been to a baseball stadium, it's huge and packed with cars. People hang out for a long time, so it didn't empty out fast enough so we could see better. Ever since then, I ALWAYS remember take note of where I park!!

Yes, exactly the same scenario with my dad. We went to the store and I even made a note where we parked. We couldn't find the car and was looking a good five to ten minutes. My dad finally found it which I was happy as I didn't want to keep pushing the store cart around the whole parking lot!

I couldn't imagine pushing a shopping cart around the entire parking lot while looking for the car!

Yeah.. Saturday night. We went to the fair which gets over a million people per year and of course the first Saturday of the fair is usually the busiest.
So we leave at like 9pm and we get to the parking lot where our car is. We start walking down the aisle, and we're walking for a long time. I start thinking we couldn't have possibly parked this far down. So we move 2 aisles over and start going back the way we came. But now hubby's thinking we definitely parked further away than this. So we turn around and keep going away from the entrance.
Our feet hurt from walking around the fair. My back had been hurting for no reason but the walking made it worse.
We did eventually find it, it was a bit further down than I thought... I was getting ready to turn us around again when we finally spotted it.

Wasn't there any type of markers there? They have them in the parking lots at the California State Fair, so it makes it easier to remember where you parked your car...so long as you remember to jot it down, or do what I do and take a picture of it.

@sacmom Nope, no markers. There are entrances every so often, so all we knew forsure was what entrances we were in between. I thought we were more towards the middle, but it seems we were further towards the next entrance.

I have wandered around a very big parking lot looking for my vehicle before..... I must admit that I didn't really panic. It was a beater and I don't think anyone would be interested in stealing it.

What's funny is that's the kind of car that usually gets stolen around here.

And sometimes we don't pay close enough attention, like what happened in my case! lol

Yes we have.. It was a huge parking lot and we had to go in through one side of the entrance to the building and come out through another.. we had to search for our car for more than half an hour. It was hot and tiring walking round and round. My husband and I felt like fools. We fixed the car alarm the next day.

I didn't, but the US Navy lost our car when we moved back from Hawaii. It was lost for over a month. We eventually got it back

I'm glad that you got it back, but how in the world did the Navy do that?

@sacmom Well the container company put two VW's in one container and didn't do the paperwork correctly. Everything big like that had to be sent on a ship.

I try and park in the same spot when I get groceries. One time I didn't and I couldn't find the darn thing and my daughter stayed on the phone with me til I found it. Whew!
