Do You Have A Relationship?

OK so lets talk about relationship here. I’m not talking about woman to man relationship, or parent to children or even a friendship, although these are very important and should be obtained and practiced in our lives.
But do you have a relationship with Jesus? Being saved and going to heaven is not just about believing in Jesus Christ, after all even the devil believes in Jesus and he trembles. But it is all about believing in Jesus and also establishing a relationship with Him. In order to have any kind of relationship with anyone there has to be a two way communication. How can anyone expect to have a relationship if you do not talk to each other?
So how does the Almighty, Creator of the heavens and earth communicate with mankind? Anyway He chooses! Through someone else, visions, dreams, audio, visual etc. But the most common way is the reading and studying of His word {The Bible} Let me ask you something. Have you ever been reading the bible when something seems to jump out at you, and you get excited in your spirit or even convicted of something in your life that needs to change? Well that is God speaking to you through His word.
In return we must communicate with our heavenly Father. This is done through our prayer life. Praying to God is not some religious ritual, but it is just talking to God from your heart is if you are talking to your best friend. Tell him what you are going through, ask Him for help, thank Him for what He has done for you and so on. Prayer is just a conversation between you and God.
A good and healthy relationship with our heavenly Father can not be established without these two components. The reading / studying of His word, and prayer present and working in our lives.
Like any relationship communication is essential.
So do you have a relationship with Jesus and our Father in heaven?

@kayshope that's awesome and that is the way it's supposed to be. Prayer is communication with the Almighty through Jesus Christ our Risen Lord

@kayshope Yes He brings smiles to my face to. I am so grateful for His grace, mercy and forgiveness especially when I sin. I have a tendency to want to beat myself up and think lowly of myself and tend to distance myself from Him as I'm ashamed of my sin, but I know His Word says in 1John 1:9 If I confess my sins He is faithful and just to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. And yes I have confessed my sins and stopped sinning, but I still feel guilty.

Oh, yes. I talk to my heavenly Father all the time, even while driving to work and back home. I would certainly be lost without Him and He is always there for me when I need Him. I just love Him and I want this relationship to last forever. I know you feel the same way about Him too.

@Butchcass4 I know, that's why we have Jesus to intercede for us. I too don't feel good when I sin and I immediately say sorry and ask for forgiveness. I try not to do it again but most of the time I fail. But God is great and He is compassionate and He will forgive us anytime. That is the most amazing thing.

@Jlyn10 You are right I feel exactly the same way you do. Except when I sin. Then it takes me a few days of beating myself up before I can let it go. I do repent, it's just I don't feel I deserve forgiveness, but I know it's through Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross that I am able to receive forgiveness. I struggle with the flesh and the enemy taunts me. But eventually I let go of it and move on. It just takes me some time to process. Somehow I don't feel it's right to sin, ask forgiveness and then feel all good

@Jlyn10 Yes I love 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The Word also says in 1 Peter says "Be ye holy for I am holy" I know we are to do our best and I love Philippians 2:13 God is working in you helping you want to do and to be able to do what pleases Him

Excellent topic! So many non-believers think we're all "religious". I'll never forget how it felt to learn that I could have an inside, spirit filled, personal relationship with God. Rather than an outside "religious" experience.
I believe "pray without ceasing" is constant communication with God. I am so very grateful that I have a relationship with Him. He is the father I never had and the husband I divorced.
If you have a relationship with Him, you never feel alone and not very often afraid.
When I was atheist, I always felt alone and afraid.

@PrarieStyle Thanks for your awesome response. What you said is so true and right on. What an awesome testimony. What church do you go to? I go to Victory Church in Troy, PA we now have two services one at 9am and one at 11:00am. It keeps growing by the power of Almighty God and people get saved every Sunday which is SO awesome.

I absolutely do have a relationship with Jesus. Without him, I am nothing, and I can do nothing. I would certainly be lost without him. i have tried to do things on my own as I felt I didn't need any help, but boy was i wrong. I need Jesus to help me in all situations, whether good or bad. we were never promised that we wouldn't have challenges, but he has promised to help us get through them, but to never take us from them. I thank God everyday for him, as i love him deeply..

I feel the same way you do @rosekiss. He is my everything and without Him I am nothing. I long to see Him one day and wrap my arms around Him and kiss His cheek. I long for home in heaven. This is not our home we are merely passing through and hopefully while we are here we will bring home many with us.

@Butchcass4 How true that is. We are just passing through, and it won't be to long before Jesus will be coming back again, and will take us away from all of the hearaches on this earth. I am so ready for Jesus to come back.

@flapiz You are most welcomed and your not alone in rethinking your relationship with God. I am doing that a lot myself. I have a hard time meeting alone with Him in the Secret Place where I'm on my knees and totally focused on worshipping Him. It's a work in progress. Thanks for sharing sister

Do you have a relationship with Jesus? Do you know that if you were to die today where you would go? The Bible says in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

@intal_carl So happy for you that you not only have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ but with both of your parents. What a blessing that is. I did not have a close relationship with my parents. My father passed away 5 years ago. My mother is still alive but our relationship is very vague. We don't talk very much, don't know what to talk about except to talk about the Lord, which is fine with me. I am happy I still have her in my life. We live 3hours apart. My kids are spread out too. One 2 hours away, one in NC and one in SC so they are 10 to 14 hours away from us. I have 7 grandchildren and I don't get to see them very often, maybe a couple times a year.

Wendy789 If we are honest we all let Him down, but the great news is He loves us unconditionally. no matter what we do or do not do He couldn't love us anymore than He does right now. Your not alone in letting Him down but that is why 1John 1:9 says If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all righteousness. Then we brush ourselves off and continue down that narrow path. Don't let Satan beat you up with the past. Once you've asked forgiveness God doesn't even remember it anymore only us and Satan do and Satan wants to isolate you, keep you away from where you belong ~ with the body of Christ at a good Bible believing church

@Butchcass4 The one and the only. I must admit, I've always seemed to be good at letting him down. Actually feel so bad about it, I stopped going to church.

I pray and talk to God in my mind whenever I need help, or just to talk about my day-to-day activities. I wonder aloud what He has in store for me that day, and how it's going to end. It is a beautiful relationship, where you only have to give your spirit to openness and belief, and the rest is done by the forces of the Almighty. Everyone in some form or the other has a relationship with the One, and I will continue to maintain it the rest of my life.
