Talking about habits here, are there any habits that you really want to give up? I am not sure that I really need to give up something, though I may a have a lot to modify. I used to drink a lot of coffee which I gave up a couple of years ago.. I my want to acquire a few good habits though.

I want to give up worrying about how our family is breaking apart. Ofcourse this is not deliberate as they are scattered all over.

@allknowing If there is nothing much you can do why worry? Its something you can work on if you want to.

@sofssu Its too late now. Each unit has it own values and to add to that there is this distance that interferes. And so I want to move on.

@allknowing You should.. That is the best for you.. You need to mentally prepare yourself for it and move on with your decision. Best wishes.

Though I don't want to give up, I need to give up to loose weight. I am fond of eating sweets but I feel I must control my desire.

@Shampasaid It was difficult for me too.. I would go on and off sugars.. thankfully .. I got over it. I still do have a treat once in a while.. an ice cream or a piece of cake or something sweet. Hope you find a way to do it.

I could say I want to give up smoking, or my great amount of coffee intake. But the truth is, I don't wish to give up anything.

@sofssu Yes, both can be harmful, I agree with you there. But 95% of life is harmful. I have tried cutting down on my coffee intake, I couldn't deal with the headaches. So it only lasted about 2 weeks.

@sofssu You have a point, but the bottom line is I don't wish to give either of them up. Not yet anyways.

@TexanTornado Both are harmful habits I hope you make a decision soon.. Not meaning to interfere here just saying ... though I know that you already know it. I cut down on my coffee intake to 2-3 cups per day fro 15-20 Its helped me a lot.

I want to give up my procrastinate behavoiur. I always make a chart(a to-do list) but that chart is hardly followed. My habit to delay things for later unnecessarily has put me into serious troubles many-a-times. I wish I could be an organised person. Any suggestions..!!??

@Ishani08 Aww.. that is a huge problem. There is no other way than to make a decision to get stuff done. Maybe you could identify behaviors which keep you from doing things, like TV chatting with friends etc. and use them as a reward for having done the task on your to do list. hoe that helps. Its one of the powerful behavioral techniques.

The first thing I'd like to give up is my impatience. I have been trying to be more gentle to my children and not scolding them anymore. I love them very much, but sometimes I just don't know why I can't control my impulse and be impatient. I am glad I am not as bad as I was, I haven't been yelling to them for quite some time, but just keep quiet when I am angry. I wish I can be gentle, calm and patient, and not nagging too.
I used to drink at least a cup of coffee a day too, and didn't get to quit until I planned to get pregnant about 8 years ago. If it's not for my children, I'd not be able to stop or I just didn't really want to stop.
I gave up the habit of sleeping late a few years ago too. Now I sleep early together with my children, and wake up in the early morning. My health gets improved a lot.

@sofssu Yes, I do believe I will be there one day.
I am learning to meditate daily now, and it really helps me. There are other ways that help me to keep calm, such as better planning and time management.
I always think sleeping early so good, it's good for health and emotion too, so it's definitely a good habit. I think if I have more time to sleep, then I will be more patient too. Sometimes not having enough sleep and too tired will cause impatience.
I am always happy to hear coffee is good for health. I am surely going for it some day later, after I have enough children.

@sofssu Really ! Good for you . I actually got addicted to it that i fight my sleepiness just to play more . But Mylot changed that . Though , unlike you i won't delete it because i need it when i am waiting for the secretary of the doctor to call me , when i have an appointment with the doctor and when i am riding in a jeepney in the evening while going home .

I gave up smoking three months ago and I think that I will try to maintain that for now. It was a goal that I had set for this year and it's going well so far. Another bad habit is nail biting but I've decided that I won't put a lot of pressure on myself.
Focusing on new good habits is the best way to stop thinking about the old ones. Finding new activities or replacing the coffe with a fruit smoothy or juice for example, may be enough to make you feel like you're making great progress and improve your health at the same time.

@Tampa_girl7 Actually it is important to maintain the changes we have made. I am constantly working on myself and need to remain alert that the unwanted habits don't creep back in.

I think I would like to give up unnecessary thinking :D Sometimes I think about things that are not my concern, especially when I read things on the news or see things on TV.

I want to give up thinking every morning ” how my day is going to be like today?”, rather I would like to create an ideal day for myself, make sure that I live it, I believe what I think will lead to how I will act, Constructive thinking and disciplined actions will definitely lead me towards my ideal day.

@Bhattacharjee Take abut 15 minutes each day to visualize what you want your day to be. It would help to be realistic in the way you visualize. Focus on emotions, happiness, fulfillment etc. I do that each day in a spiritual context.

@sofssu I absolutely agree with you. When one focuses on emotions and happiness, productivity increases manifold. Roles and responsibilities towards family and society at large can be better performed if one focuses on self development by catering to the inner self and its needs.

I would like to give up on my addiction to sweets. I've done so a few times in the past for maybe a couple of days, weeks at the most. And I do recall feeling really good about it. Then I slowly fall off the wagon and innocently enough start with a pice of candy- thinking a little piece won't hurt. Then it progresses to 2 pieces won't hurt as long as its in moderation.. Which leads to a whole bag of sweets and me feeling terrible physically and mentally. It's an addiction I fear I'll never overcome.
