Do you even believe in the Climate Change that is talked about
A large poll was conducted recently about Climate Change. It showed most people do not care as there is nothing we can do about it. It will do what it will do.
The government has spent millions of dollars trying to convince us that we can do something about Climate Change. Here is another instance of wasting our hard earned tax money.
The vast majority of the population are more concerned about good education, better healthcare, more job opportunities and an honest government.

Unfortunately, it is the same story almost everywhere. We have become that way, and nothing except us and our needs, our fun and our vested interests seem to bother us. If anyone tries to point out what we lack, we get hurt, start blaming and doing whatever we can but anything constructive.
I tried talking and convincing two people in our locality that cutting off the trees is not a great idea. But they will never listen. Then came the day when they started felling trees in the name of "Modernization, expansion of roads" and what not. end result, today there are no trees on the main road which is the busiest Highway in the state.
We are all headed to doomsday, sometime or the other, nature will be furious and we need not go to wait till eternity for that to happen, the changing climate , unexpected rains, typhoons are all examples of what is ahead.

Interesting view of climate change Sids, yes it is the same story everywhere. If you tell people something they don't want to hear they do nothing about it and then where are we?
Certainly not where we would like to be for instance the tree cutting "modernization , expansion of roads indeed.
Nature is already becoming furious and Mother Earth is trying to tell us something but of course we don't listen.

@Marcyaz Of course, Nature has its own ways to warn us. Famines, Droughts, unexpected heavy rainfall, frequent depressions in the sea, raising temperatures all are its ways to tell us to wake up.
The Government at the center has started taking initiatives since the last elections here. The Government Organizations now use CFL and LED bulbs that are considered to be environment friendly. Taking that into account, many households too have moving to use these. It is good no doubt, but as I mentioned above, people are still divided when the Government takes an initiative - one school says, Government minting money by promoting such things (just because they are going to be compelled in due course of time to use these and no one likes to extend beyond the comfort zones) and the other school says it is all for the good.

It is a tough subject Marcy for me.
I believe there are things we can do to help our environment, but in the end with the climate, it truly is going to do what it is going to do. However, I do believe also they are intertwined.
The Prez has said that he believes it is nearly too late to do anything about climate change.
I do feel that way too much money may be being spent on this, something that may be too late too.

We have lost certain animals already but it is because of companies invading their habitat. Flooding has happened a lot all over the world.
I don't know what the answer is to the question is there really Climate Change or not.
Everyone has their own opinion and I for one am still pondering this question...

It is happening now and has been happening for some years. Extreme weather whether hot or cold. The ice caps are melting

Is it really climate change or just the same thing that has been happening for a long time. We have extreme cold or extreme heat but that has always been so in certain years so is it really climate change or is that just what we are being told.

@Marcyaz No - it is different now as the ice caps are melting and billions of tons of ice are now in the seas and this is one of the reasons for flooding in many parts of the world. Ice flows were tracked a few years ago by scientists and they tracked this water - it flooded New Zealand.

Climate has always been in a state of change, and we will reap what we sow. I have always done what I can not to waste things and to recycle. I plant trees and plants each time I move to a new property. I support agencies that support sustainable agriculture. It is my little corner of the world and I want to take care of it.

Not really.... the thing about climate change is that humans have not been around as long as some people would like to believe. We have not lived long enough as a life form to know everything about cycles. Everything cycles. We also have learned most of what we know in a relatively short time, added to by the explosion of technology in the past decade or two. Prior to that, we didn't have even a 10th of information about anything we have now.
All I see are people becoming increasingly paranoid about things that nobody has any control over. Paranoia when you can do nothing is a ridiculous waste of your time, energy, and life.

Another good point made. Yes, everything does cycle and technology does not tell us everything as we inpoint what we know but it does not tell us what we really need to know or tell us what to do.
Do we really have no control? I would hate to think people are wasting their time and energy over nothing.

climate change has been a reality for many years. Weather is just extreme - the cold countries experience worse weather and the hot countries (like mine) get warmer. And of course we can do something about it. We can stop destroying our planet and take steps to DELAY the process.we can protect our watersheds and plant trees and stop carbon emissions. Stop the oil dependence and in our case use more solar.. We have had our hottest day today at 95 F. Water must be stored underground and not in dams etc because of water evaporation. If the world made a concentrated effort we could save our planet.

Cynthiann, good points but who will undertake to protect our watersheds and plant trees.
The carbon emissions how will it be achieved maybe by these new electric cars do you think?
Oil independence seems to be something that is wanted by OPEC.
Would all Countries even think of doing anything like storing water underground or if they thought of it how many would actually do it with all the tension in the World today.

@Marcyaz I live in a poor Third World country and our first mega underground water system is 75% built. Old Wells are also being resurrected etc. The second underground system has just had ground broken. Basically, we, the people have to demand this from our governments and take responsibility for our own communities to delay the process. Hopefully, it will soon be mandatory for all new houses to have solar and a catchment tank to rainwater. We must never think that we do not have a say in governing - because we do.I was born with bombs dropping all around me and they have never ceased. We must never give up and keep the flag flying for social justice..

Exactly. The Steps taken by Governments are quite ineffective unless we all raise up and play our roles in trying to fix the imbalances created.
It has to be an effort where we leave out out inhibitions and difference behind and start taking whatever initiatives we can at our own end.

Climate change is real. And I do believe that all the damage we have done to this planet is accelerating it. We do need to stop using those fossil fuels. And yes, we do need better education and more jobs and ultimately, free healthcare. That's what we should have gotten. But climate change will affect all of us on one way or another.

I don't believe in climate change because the really cold winters and hot summers that they say are a part of it,,, I believe weather goes in cycles through out the centuries. Some winters are colder than others.

Climate Change over the long term always has and always will occur. The geological and meteorological record shows that sometimes it is gradual but at times it has been abrupt. The question now is, how much is human activity accelerating climate change and what can we do to slow it down.

Very good question how much human activity is accelerating climate change and is it really changing the climate and what can be done.
Does anyone really have an answer to this question?
I don't think our governments have an answer or if they do it is just rederick as always.

I think that there are things we can do to save the planet, but there is not much we can do to get rid of all those plastic produced every day. Everything is wrapped in plastic, our drinks are stored in plastic bottles... we can do nothing against this.

People are very indifferent towards the climatic change. Their selfish motives of earning money and materialistic thinking is sabotaging our nature. They may be called , " educated fools" , who in spite of knowing everything do not realize that this money cannot buy them food, water and oxygen - basic necessities for human survival..!!!!
It is high time to act responsible else the results could be drastic, whose trailers can be seen nowadays in every part of the world.

Some people do not care and usually it is people high up in our governments who want more money and do not care about the future. Human survival should be on the minds of everyone but alas it is not.
Our governments do not seem to act responsibility untill it is almost too late then all of a sudden here they come spouting all their rederick.

I'm sorry to tell you this, guys, but we are too late. A lot too late! So we can only hope that we'll live a good life, and try to stop the climate changing as much as possible.
