Kids at this Oklahoma school are actually saying the Pledge of Allegiance. I thought they had outlawed this in all schools. www.News9.com/pledge

As far as I know, this has been outlawed at no public schools, so I'm not sure where you're getting your information. My daughter attends Head Start and they teach them the Pledge there, even.

I have heard repeatedly that some people live in areas where they no longer recite the pledge - but I don't know for sure if it's because they have disallowed it or if the schools just don't take the time to do it any more. I've heard they stopped teaching cursive, which is a shame, because how will this new crop of kids learn how to make a fantastic autograph someday for all their adoring fans... if they never learn cursive? I do wonder

Yes, there was a woman in the news that 'outlawed' it. She was a atheist I belief and didn't believe in it. They probably don't take the time anymore. Seemed to me as if it was 'outlawed'.

@celticeagle See, this is where it gets into gray area for me. I've said this in other discussions, as well. One person does not make a pattern. It does not make a law. It does not make anything except that person's opinion, and since I don't know this particular person or situation, it's really hard to comment. Considering that there isn't a legal law saying that the Pledge will no longer be said, it's not outlawed. It may very well be that in certain schools they no longer say it, but that may be for a variety of reasons and based on individual situations. Personally, I would prefer them not stop teaching the Pledge. I was very annoyed by the fact that every time my daughter hears the words "the Pledge," she immediately starts to recite it. This is programming. It wasn't OK for Nazi Germany, it's not OK for the US. My daughter's four. She can barely pronounce words in the Pledge and she has absolutely no idea what it actually means which makes it basically brainwashing and indoctrination. I would much prefer that they teach it to kids when it actually means something and they can understand the meaning behind it.

Nope, they say the pledge at my daughter's school and always have. I have a problem with any area or person who believes it is wrong to say the pledge - if you don't want to, don't, but outlawing it when it is our pledge of our country makes zero sense to me.

Maybe its just my neck of the woods. Lady in the news a few years back didn't like. She was an atheist.
