I Never Did Mail It

A fellow myLotter posted a discussion in which she asked if anyone has written a fan letter to an author. I have not. But a long time ago, I did write a letter to CBS about an up and coming star named David Cassidy.
You see, the first time I ever saw him was when he was a guest start on Gunsmoke. I thought he was cute and, yes, I thought he did a very good job of acting. So after I saw that episode, I wrote a letter to CBS to let them know that I knew that he was going to be a big star.
Well, after I wrote that letter, my sister got hold of it, read it, and told me that was the stupidest thing she ever saw. Needless to say, that upset me VERY much. So much so that I wound up NOT mailing the letter.
P.S. David Cassidy did become a big star. He portrayed Keith Partridge in the TV show "The Partridge Family".

At college I was given a question about the novels of John Fowles, author of The French Lieutenant's Woman. I found his address and wrote to him to ask about it and he replied. my tutor was astonished. No one had ever used such an approach to an assignment before.

That's pretty cool. I think my sister would do something like that if she felt that it would be a significant contribution to one of her classes.
