What do you think the world needs right now?

I came across this question a while ago as I was doing my daily online surfing. I know my list of "what the world needs" would be endless, but I can think of a few things that the world needs most right now. 1. Clean and fresh air (at least in this part of the world where I live) 2. Peace 3. Honest politicians (wishful thinking? I don't know) Like I said, I can think of a ton of other things but I'd love to hear from you guys too. So what would your list look like? :)

1. A world water system, that I have designed already (in my head mostly), in place and operational. 2. A new political system that centers on sustainability and deals with population. None of the current systems work with the world as it is now and how it will continue to be. 3. Just to be funny, a global currency system, based on gold and silver like in the past. Let's see.... we'll call it the 'Shiny System'. Glints are the smallest denomination, Luminescents are the top. *Looks in wallet* Hmmm, I only have a few tier 1 lumis and several sparkles, sheens, and glints left. I better go to the metallurgy place and get some more.

@OneOfMany Oh wow. That sounds like utopia. No loans and no debt - awesomeness! I think that's part of problem that caused people and countries live in such a miserable state today. Sounds like something I wouldn't mind reading.

You've thought of everything haven't you! I like #1 and #2. You know what I think about #3? It would make a very interesting part for your next story: "The Shiny System". Or did you have it already?

@cahaya1983 I have the Meritum system, that was founded on bartering and is nearly entirely moneyless. The only part that deals with money is foreign relations. Everything else is weighed on a mathematical system of worth, assigned merit credits, and items are exchanged for those credits that can be redeemed later. There are no loans and no debt. Zero is the bottom. The culture that surrounds this system is much different from our own though, and the system of sustainability I mentioned before is in play here. The government details in that world and in that system are gigantic and it would take pages to explain.

@cahaya1983 haze must be hard for those with asthma. if you keep all doors and windows closed and open the air conditioner, does it help?

@hereandthere Yeah it helps but it makes the air inside stuffy so that's not very healthy either. But of course, better than letting the air with dust particles in. I had to dry the clothes indoor too.

Yes, very very bad. I live in the west coast so it's worse than in other parts of the country. We had to do cloud seeding to induce rain, but the haze still isn't gone completely.

I suppose that number 1 is achievable - maybe. But number 2 and 3 are not achievable as long as humans live on this planet. Star Trek had it wrong. We never will evolve into peaceful people, it will always be that some are peaceful and some are not and so there will always be conflict started by people who want conquest and ended by peaceful people who love freedom. Even the peaceful folk end up fighting in wars, when the issue at hand is important enough.

@Rollo1 You have a point there Anja. I guess as long as greed for power and money exists, having a peaceful world does seem like a farfetched idea. Sigh.

@IrisheyesI I agree, tolerance is much needed in many parts of the world. I recently read articles about the people of Germany and Iceland who came forward to help the refugees and migrants, it just made my day! I hope it would somehow be a good example to people in other countries including mine .

I think the world needs tolerance more than ever. Especially in my country (USA). I cannot believe how mean and petty so many Americans are about immigrants. Especially in view of the fact that we are a nation built by immigrants and there is hardly a family that does not have a member that cannot go back thee generations.

Yeah you are right, the world needs right now clean environment but 2 and 3 points are just reflections of human nature for that to achieve we need first the people to change. For me the world right now needs is: 1.Clean environment 2.poverty free world 3 . an economic system which treats every nation equal.

Interesting thought. I believe that your second point would only be possible if your third point is successfully put in place. On a different note, thanks for bringing this thread back to life.

The number 3 is most applicable here in my country which many politicians are corrupt and selfish.with the above mentioned,I think we can achieved this if we can be responsible enough with our actions. As for me,Spread more love and care, this will achieve peace and happiness.

I agree with you. I guess that part about corrupt politicians is true in many parts of the world, sadly. The least we can do is spread the love and be more tolerant towards others, and I believe we each can do our part no matter how small.

I do too. So sad how the term "politician" itself seems to have a negative connotation nowadays.

I agree, the moral issue is something that needs to be tackled. Plus it often leads to bigger, more serious problems.
