All purpose sites...

There are just endless possibilities when it comes to the internet. Sites with any purpose one would ever think of are just clicks away. There are sites for socializing online, for sharing photos, for sharing videos, for buying/selling, for gambling, for playing games, for learning, and for earning. And those are just a fraction of what's actually available out there. Individual interests and needs vary, but there are basically sites that will cater to each one of them. For socializing online, for instance, we have the options to go to a 'crowded' one with billions of members or a less popular one. We can also choose to earn while socializing. Each site serves different purpose, or sometimes can also have more than one function. But normally we have to go to different sites to get different needs out of the internet. There is not one site for all purposes; rather, we have one internet that is functioning to accommodate all purposes. (Collage made using free Photovisi site)

It is endless. I do actually remember when the internet was not so large but even then lots of variety some of which we will never see?

I miss those days when you would write out almost everything in text. Ever since they came up with the www thing, it became more easy and more spammy (on many instances)

@thesids You are speaking mostly of picture communication? Is that what you meant? Graphical use does dress up and communicate. It can be over done and some of us still read. Amazing but true.

@Bluedoll In fact I was referring to the era where we would have to login to the server using textual ftp or otherwise and there were no images or glamor. Just plain simple text.

I remember the early days of Internet. There were far many sites, but Internet was a safe place where you could find serious and useful content.

Serious indeed! I remember putting knowledge of the internet as one of my skills on my very first resume - they were rather regarded as special skills back then... Not anymore, everybody has that skill nowadays!

I like the sites where I earn while also having fun, but I do participate in sites that don't pay me anything, just because it is enjoyable.

Yeah, they're trying to make internet accessible practically anywhere at anytime; but to make the gadgets more mobile means they are getting smaller and smaller too...

The internet is a marvelous thing. I love the many options that the internet provides us. It has opened up information all over the world for everyone to enjoy. No more going to the local library to bend your head over a book, everything is right at your fingertips at the nearest internet site.

There are so many options on the internet - one could sit there for hours and days looking into everything (is it any wonder why people get so addicted to being online?). I guess it's exciting because we can jump from place to place - we feel so busy - hee hee!

I think today are the days of expertise and "jack of all trades" eventually do not survive in the long run.

It's amazing how vast the internet reaches; yet it makes the world feel smaller at the same time by its ability to connect people from opposite sides of the world in real time.
