What is your favorite band, and how did they earn the right to be your favorite band?
For me, my favorite band is Pink Floyd. I'd been listening to them all my life, but I didn't truly discover and appreciate their music until one summer when I was fourteen. I was headed to journalism camp, and I needed inspiration for the yearbook I was creating.
I was randomly shuffling through YouTube when I happened upon Pink Floyd's song, Time. That has been my favorite song by then ever since, and it transported me into a world of absolute bliss. To this day, no matter how much stress I'm under, no matter what condition I'm in, if I turn on Pink Floyd I can just sit back, close my eyes, and swim in the beauty of their music.

Coldplay.
Why? Because of LOTR.^-^
The song Fix You reminds me of the time when Sam carries Frodo up Mount Doom.

Imagine Sam carrying Frodo up Mt. Doom and that song playing in the background.
I also associate some Hindi songs with LOTR. :)
Have you heard songs by The Beatles? I like them too. :D

@BrainySaber I can dig it.
I have always respected the Beatles wholeheartedly, since they come from the same era as Pink Floyd, but never really listened to them for the same reason. I was also never a big The Doors fan. I'm now giving the Beatles and The Doors a chance, since I know I'll always stay loyal to Pink Floyd but can appreciate bands just as well.

I'm a huge LOTR fan. I never associated that song with that scene, but the next time I have a marathon I'll keep a look out to see if I make that connection too! :)

I have loved the band Dashboard Confessional for the longest time! I liked it sice I was in high school and I still like it to this day.

I think I've heard of them, but wouldn't be able to name a song by them if my life depended on it. I'll definitely check them out again now that you mention them!

I love music. Their are far too many bands that I love. I love a lot of different genre of music too so that makes it even harder.
Some of my favorite Christian Bands would be For King and Country, Jeremy Camp, Skillet and 12 Stones. Country has so many old time favorites and a lot of great new comers. Sam Hunt, Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Kenny Chesney, George Straight and many many more. For punk / rock / alternative and all the sub genres I would say Imagine Dragons, Brand New, Live, Matchbox 20, old Metallica and many many more. I could never chose a single favorite.

I'm not a big country fan, unfortunately, but I am a big fan of the sub genres you mentioned. I know that popular song by Imagine Dragons and a couple others, and love me some Metallica!

@RachelDSims24 I was a huge metallica fan in my teens. Black Album was pretty much my favorite. Haven't listen to them in about 10 years though.

@loki1982 Aw, that's a shame. I know many hardcore Metallica fans, including my roommate. He was into the post-90's Metallica.

Westlife. They are my first crush and I grow up with them during my teens days. I can love new song everyday, but their songs are evergreen

@RachelDSims24 My Love and Obvious are wonderful song. It has beautiful lyrics and relaxing rhyme. They are band from Ireland. They are popular in British, most Europe and Asian. There was time they tried to enter USA, but the result not really good

I don't think I've heard of them before, but thank you for bringing them to my attention! What songs would you recommend by them?

My favorite band (as opposed to an individual singer) is Poco. I love their harmonies, their versatility (they did great country-rock and great rock rock), and the joy that emanates from their music. I always say that Poco was the band the Eagles wish they were, because Poco's music is so happy (as opposed to the cynicism of Eagles songs).
