Do you go to sleep with a TV or radio on?

I love to have the solid noise of a fan, but I cant stand to have a TV or radio on. My wife is the opposite. I end up leaving the room some nights because I cant sleep with the TV on.

You're commenting what everybody's thinking, but I bet a ton of people are afraid to admit it! Lol. I definitely hate having clothes on. Feels like it's restricting me from when I flop around like a fish before I fall completely asleep.

I will have the tv on, but no noise. I sleep with the sound of a fan like you Jared.

I love the noise of a fan. I sleep with a fan blowing straight in my face. Even in the winter when I am cold I will have a fan blowing in my face.

Noise doesn't make any difference to me,I can sleep even in a noisy room, but I switch off my tv. lest my electric bill will go up and up.

when we go to sleep, everything is turned off... well, except for the refrigerator and the lights outside the house (to ward off thieves) everyone should conserve energy

Normally, no. But I CAN sleep with the Weather Channel on in the background....that repetitive music seems to bore the heck out of me and knock me right out.

Actually my mom has done just that with the television since 1991 when my dad passed. It was the only thing that got her through the tough nights. The silence was just more than she could stand.

Very sad to hear about your dad. I am sorry for your loss. I'm glad it was a way to confort her.

:( at first I was going to suggest that it's better to sleep without any distractions. Then I realize we have our own preferences. In your mom's case it was a way for her to cope.

No,no,@Jared D,although I can fall fast asleep with tv.on,I switch it off before going to bed.Otherwise,my electric bill would become unaffordable for me.However when my elder brother was alive,he would fall fast asleep and we had the responsibility of switching off tv.

I used to not be able to sleep when it's noisy but after I found inner peace, it didn't matter where I was. I can sleep like a log when I wanted and if I needed to, UNLESS there's someone snoring near me. Omg I'd wake them up so I could sleep or else I won't sleep at all.

@loki1982 i think it's called white noise. i tend to wake up to turn off the fan when it gets cold (we sleep with the windows open). someone here naps with the radio caught between 2 stations. it drives me crazy.

I am like you - I like to have a fan on but usually not the TV. Occasionally, I do fall asleep watching TV though.

I've gotten to the point where I can't sleep without a tv on mute and my fan on medium or 2. I love the light and the noise. Maybe I'm just the weird one. I HAVE to sleep with a fan because my room is always the hottest and the air condition in the house likes to have spells where it doesn't work without manually turning it on yourself. As far as wanting the tv light on, I don't know why I like that or how it started, but I can't live without it now.

I used to be the same way as her. Maybe suggest a couple of nights a week you do it your way? Gotta compromise somehow.

I usually sleep with the TV on mute, so just like you, I cannot sleep with the TV on.. Unless I leave it on the music channel. Music always chills me so I don't mind it much.
