Do you believe in Aliens?

Do you believe in Aliens? I personally do not. I think with the technology we have, there would be proof. I dont care how much the government tried to cover it up, there is no way some civilian wouldnt catch one on video. Everyone has a phone with a camera now, so there is no reason proof wouldn't be found. On top of that, we have cameras which can photograph stars millions and billions of miles away. Amateur astronomers can even buy telescopes to see millions of miles away, and yet no one has ever spotted an alien? It just doesn't make sense to me, if they existed, there would be proof.

The first space probe that we launched which has left the solar system in 2013 was Voyager 1. It was launched in 1977, so it needed 35 years just to left our system and will need... 40000 years more to reach another one. If you did any research job in your life about any scientific subject you already know that our knowledge is limited, and that we are a very primitive civilization. Why an advanced civilization able to really navigate from a star to another would like to contact us ? I would certainly not do it if I was an alien, except for a photographic safari. And what a telescope is supposed to see ? They have detected more than 200 planets around our nearest stars, but they certainly cannot see the lights of a town or a space ship running at light speed. By the way, to run at light speed a space ship needs 6 or 7 times the total energy consumption of this planet during a year actually, and it is another reason to consider the Earth like a prehistoric civilization for an alien.

@Bluedoll I was in holidays near the sea with my parents in July 1969 when Armstrong walked on the moon, and we were all listening to the radio. It is a wonderful memory, and I was convinced of our technical superiority. Now, when I look back at my first external HDD (a large box weighting about 20 pounds that I bought a little fortune in 1985 and offering... 5 Mb of data storage), I am amazed by the exploit made in 1969, but not impressed anymore by the technology, and I understand that some people can doubt that a man has ever walked on the moon with the technology we had at the time. I suppose that an alien would have exactly the same feeling if he was having a look at our technology and that he would consider that we are not old enough to be contacted.

@topffer For me I think it was the lack of - that made it so cool. I remember around that time using a slide-rule in class as they were popular and they really did work. If you know the science and can round off numbers. On the other hand given no techno could men now build the ruins we see around the world. Stone masons are few and far between.

Really liked that thought you put down at the end. We act so superior but really not all that advanced perhaps. I think science is really wonderful. Using star light and computer programs to detect planets around stars is amazing. Distant stars are only little light dots though. The 3d planets we see on the internet are really only graphical representations. We can't actually see them. It is a very large universe.

I understand Donald Trump seems to think there is a lot of them? Seriously, they are cute in sci-fi films but with the distances involved in space and the time it would take to come from far away star systems? I don't think the trip would be easy even with warp drive Jane Way was lost? Worm holes in space might be imaginary. Who knows?

Whats funny is when one of these "proof" videos comes out and then its debunked and the original person looks stupid because they tried to fool everyone. Same thing with Bigfoot, Ghost, Loch Ness Monster and so on. I believe that none of them are real, just people that want attention or something.

@loki1982 I think it is attention getting sure at the beginning but then they seem to take on a real quality as the story stretches and people start adding crazy things on to make it sound believable. It is fun until you get someone actually believing it is all true then it just gets weird.

@Bluedoll I saw a documentary many years ago about the Loch Ness monster. This research got some test subjects and explained that he was doing an experiment about the Loch Ness Monster. He put a pvc pipe in the water and rigged it to stand up out of the water when he wanted it to. He told the people to watch for Nessy. He made the pvc pipe pop out of the water for a few seconds and go back down. He then asked the testers to draw what they saw. A large portion of the people drew a head on a stick....The pvc pipe had no head. Simply because they believed in Nessy, they drew a head on the stick when it clearly had no head. People see what they want to see.

Well there are proof but as far as I know they are hidden from us. It's just like saying ghosts or spirits don't exist. Ancient civilizations have written about aliens so I believe they exist.

@loki1982 Well sometimes you don't need to see them to believe. But of course that's your choice and it's definitely fine.

I have never seen proof that couldn't or wasn't debunked eventually.

I think alien is no more than fictional character we used to see in TV. I wonder how could we react if they are real. Perhaps, if they are real, I would like join them to having vacation on their land

I dont always need proof to believe in something. However, having said that, I am not sure about alien life.

I respect everyones belief but other than seeing one first hand I'll never be convinced by a photo or video.

@loki1982 Oh yes, I most likely would have to see it for myself as I have yet to see anything to convince me of their existence.

This is such a hard question to answer for all humans inhabiting here. There's been so much leakage of videos and photos; most debunked and some still a mystery.

I use to think that maybe we are the only ones in this universe. However, that kind of thinking lead one to close mindedness and that is not good. I believe that all knowledge is good whether true or not; at least you would know the different. Whether there is alien life or not, doesn’t mean that we are alone in this vast universe. We really don’t know if all the stories and videos on the web are all fakes or not. My thoughts on this subject are that there are alien life forms and that the governments of this world conceal the true facts about extraterrestrials. Recently for some unknown reason I’ve downloaded old episodes of “The Invaders.” It's about aliens wanting to destroy all life on earth so that they can inhabit her. I watched this TV show as a kid in the late sixties. So, maybe our government was trying to tell us back then, that we are not alone. We just took it for entertainment.

I actually do, since the universe is quite huge and they say it is still expanding so i think it is quite possible that we are not the only ones living in the entire universe - maybe they are just so far away
