Forgetful ?

I used to be forgetful . But not much anymore .
I learned from my brother-in-law , that when you leave a place where you have just been , look back .
And I now religiously do that .
You see when you do that always, you will see that you haven’t switched off the electric fan , like my husband always forgets when he gets up from his side of the bed (we each have one to steadily fan us ) .
You will see that you forgot to get your small bag of groceries or even your cellphone when you get up from the table in a restaurant where you have just eaten .
For those things you forgot where you have placed them , have a place to always place them , so when you look for it , it will always be just at that same place .
I hope this helps .
But if you still have other means , maybe you can share it so the forgetful ones will benefit

I forget sometimes. I do look around but I still forget. However, my husband is terrible when it comes to remembering stuff. I have to keep reminding him. Once he took our little boy to have his hair cut.. and while he was there he had to attend a call so he was out of the salon talking on his phone.. he came back home without the little one.. I was so mad at him then.. I still tease him about it.

that when you leave a place where you have just been , look back .
That means I can never be a smart burgler
. I have seen some episodes and even read many stories - where the burglars were caught because they returned to clean away the evidence
For those things you forgot where you have placed them , have a place to always place them , so when you look for it , it will always be just at that same place
What in case I forget the "safe place"
I will have lost more

It is weird how our brain works. I never forget an appointment, but I can forget a pan on the stove, and I have had some culinary disasters like this. I also forgot my briefcase several times in restaurants, and remembered it a few minutes later. My "best exploit" has been to forget my suitcase in a train. Indeed, I thought at it a few minutes later, but the train was far away. People in the railway station phoned, and I got it back two days later. Happily I was coming back at home, and I was not needing the clothes in the suitcase
.

So you are already forgetful too !
As to the suitcase that you got back after two days , that's the most forgetful disaster . Good thing they're all clothes . What if there is a laptop in there and it gets damaged ?
But anyway , all we can do is to laugh at our forgetfulness and take my advice - look back from where you just have been .

This is good advice. I also tell myself out loud where in the parking lot I am in large lots. I recite the letter of the row I'm parking in if it had one, or I look for where the car is in relationship to things near the building I'm entering (coke machine, flower bed, tree). This keeps me from wandering the lot trying to find my car while pushing a cart of groceries.

Oh yes , that one . Good thing you are smart like that . It's really hard to remember where you parked your car when it's a big one and the places are identical .
It's good though that at the mall's paid parking lot they sometimes have number of the lanes .

Yes, It has always been the case with me ,forgetting my cellphone at the restaurant or buying something from the shop and after paying the money leaving the items their itself. Once, I went to a the petrol filling station and after getting my vehicle filled with fuel realized that I have forgot my wallet at home...:p
I have many real life examples like these in which I have put myself into trouble with this awful habit of keeping forgetting things..
Hope your advice helps.!!!!

Yup, I have a place where I always place my keys and places where I put my make up, accessories etc. But sometimes even if you look back and find that the stuff you need are not there it's still a problem.

Yes that's true , if you look back yet you find nothing but still you have forgotten something then you truly are forgetful already .

Of course , when one is drunk he tends to be for forgetful .
But as to forgetting the list , then you are really forgetful .
Maybe if you have a smartphone you can already list it there . You can also have it on alarm mode when you are about to go out to buy them , so you can once more take a look at them .
How that's as an advise to a forgetful person?

I also tend to forget a lot. I think it happens because so many things occupy my mind already - from work stress to personal problems. That is why I often like to cut-off and take a break by traveling to a foreign country.

Young and old alike becomes forgetful when their lives are so busy to think of some small things , that the tendency is to forget them . And yes, a break will be good for you and for everybody , when they tend to be always forgetful already .

I forget sometimes where i put things. Not sure if is old age or not, but it sure does get frustrating, when I can't remember wherre certain things are. I look and look, and sometimes I find things, and sometimes I don"t. Oh the results of getting old.

@rosekiss Don't worry you are not alone . I am too . Like i have just touched the comb and go around with it in my hands and in a little while i cannot find it anymore . I just let it be because i have lots of combs anymore . And if i am not looking for it anymore , it will appear .

I forget sometimes. It just happens. My girlfriend on the other hand is real forgetful. She will have her cell phone in her hand and frantically go looking for it. I laugh though. I agree, having a place for everything makes it way easier. As for looking back, I do that sometimes, not all the time.

@SIMPLYD I don't know what it is about her, but she seems to not think much about things in general. That may be why she forgets. And when she cannot find her phone or whatever it might be, she gets frantic about it. But if she just calmed down she would remember.

I'm forgetful about number. But about things to do, things buy or where I put stuff, I can remember it very well. So far, I could only remember my phone number. That's bad

My memory has gotten lost it seems like lately. It is not so much misplacing things as it is me forgetting what I am suppose to be doing. I will go to the office to get something and before I get there I will not remember what I was going in there for. I think its the kids that get me side tracked.

I always double check or triple check things. I can easily remember important events and details about people but I'm quite forgetful when it comes to my recent action, lol. So, I always double check the things that I do. I also keep my things in the same place, always.

We have the same way then. It's about time we should be doing that , because at an older age forgetfulness is inevitable .
